I'll agree with Steala's review. Liam Neeson was a total badass in his quest to track down his daughter who (to quote Steala) is played by the lovely Maggie Grace. (Damn I really miss her in Lost...). You do agree that she ran with the subtle grace of a retarded baby orangutan though, right? What a bizarre acting choice. It's okay for me to say that because I called her lovely.

Or gorehound fanboys like me may remember Berkeley as the cheating rat-fuck husband Trevor in Candyman.

I just watched the 2010 remake of George A. Romero's lo-fi shocker The Crazies. Very very superior zombie film, and beats the pants off anything Romero has directed since 1985's Day Of The Dead. Romero acted as executive producer here, but it's director Breck Eisner, whose only real work of note is the 2005 Indy rip-off Sahara, who ramps up the tension and produces a horror film with real substance. This is helped by a superb lead in Timothy Olyphant, who is convincing as the small town Sherriff thrust into a nightmare beyond belief, action which is extremely well paced, and a haunting soundtrack which John Carpenter would be proud of. The shocks come big and genuinely pant-browning, the suspense is knuckle-gnawingly compelling, and the script is far less pulpy than the subject matter would suggest, with splendid turns by the three main leads.
There is also a very small cameo from 24's Aaron Pierce, which is another plus.
The film's final act is truly devastating. Maybe I'm easily pleased, but I enjoyed this more than I enjoyed 28 Days and 28 Weeks Later, Zack Snyder's Dawn Of The Dead remake, and either of Romero's last three zombie offerings. This is on par with some of the more terrifying Euro-horror's of the past five or six years.
Highly recommended if you prefer horror with more substance than your average "Bloody Valentine" or "I Know What You Did..." hokum.
