Damien Duff had a one-on-one chance saved and then straight down the other end Dunn let Henry through and the Gillette spokesman almost gave the French another one, but Given was up to it.
Great stuff!

Still 1-1 on aggerate in Paris, but things look even worse for Bosnia now as they too are down to 10 men and need three goals in 10 minutes.
It's all France at the moment. Nervous times.

And as soon as I posted that Sloevnia get a crucial away goal! Rather undeserved, but now all they need to do is win 1-0 at home Wednesday and Russia will be out! Well that was just what happened. Russia dominated the first leg completely, but let their guard down with eight minutes to go and paid the price! Russia are out! Russia are out!! Portugal and Slovenia are to the world cup.... *prays that Portugal are completely at the either side of the draw to England*.... 30 nations have made it- two more spots remain. Costa Rica vs the two time world cup winners Uruguay kicks off later, but all eyes are on the final European playoff as Ireland and France is now going to extra time.

Lol, I just saw this on a wesbite:
"List of qualifiers/finalists for the 2010 World Cup - South Africa (hosts), Japan, Australia, South Korea, Holland, North Korea, Brazil, Ghana, ENGLAND, Spain, Paraguay, Ivory Coast, Germany, Denmark, Serbia, Italy, Chile, USA, Mexico, Switzerland, Slovakia, Argentina, Honduras, New Zealand, Cameroon, Nigeria, Algeria, Greece, Slovenia, Portugal, The Cheating French"
"The Cheating French" haha, love it. I hope they crash out in round 1 again like they did in 02.

In the battle for the final spot Uruguay scored first in the 69th minute taking their lead to 2-0, which meant that Costa Rica need to score twice.... however they got one back in the 72nd minute! This could be a grandstand end to a remarkable qualifying series.

I cannot wait for the world cup. I just remember last world cup being excited to watch USA play and was hoping they'd go deep in the tournament but then it started and well yeah. But, I started cheering for England until they blew it lol.
Anyway, looking at those 32 teams you posted, this is going to be a pretty interesting world cup. United States should finally do really well as they have been playing above average "soccer" recently but the past tells me not to be to excited for them.
Also, again I will be rooting for England but I haven't been following their qualifying to know if they could be contenders.

Carter, you're not supposed to root for other countries in international tournaments. That's decidedly un-American.
I bet you also cheered for the Soviets in the movie 'Miracle' and probably don't participate in "USA! USA!" chants at wrestling events. You poseur.

Well you were drawn in one of the two "group of death" four years ago with Italy and Czech, both of whom were capable of winning the tournament- and indeed the Italains did, and Ghana too who are good. Still sad to see the Czech's go out, they are Everyone's 2nd favourite team it seems.
As for the USA they did play rather well in qualifying, but lost both their last two games- a 3-1 defeat in Denmark Wednesday, letting a one nill lead slip, and a 1-0 defeat in Slovakia too.
But still that being said you were away from both games and nobody will get to the home advantage next year bar South Africa and they suck anyway. Btw here are the other games this week invoving nations in the world cup so you can see their form.
Sat South Africa 0 - 0 Japan Slovakia 1 - 0 USA Switzerland 0 - 1 Norway Brazi 1 - 0 England Northen Ireland 0 - 1 Serbia Denmark 0 - 0 South Korea Spain 2 - 1 Argentina Italy 0 - 0 Netherlands
Wed South Korea 0 - 1 Serbia Angola 0 - 0 Ghana Denmark 3 - 1 USA Austria 1 - 5 Spain Germany 2 - 2 Ivory Coast Netherlands 0 - 0 Paraguay Italy 1 - 0 Sweden
Me and my mate were trying to predict the seedings for the groups and we thought it would be something like this;
Top 8 Seeds: 1. South Africa 2. Spain 3. Brazil 4. Holland 5. Argentina 6. Italy 7. Germany 8. England
But then FIFA made new world rankings today which are complete horseshit. Portugal and France despite having an AWFUL qualfying capmgaings jump 5 and two spots pushing Argentina (fair enough) and England out of the top eight. Wtf?!! We were neary flawless, dropping points in just one game, and humilating the 10th best team in the world Croatia who were the seeded team in the group not us.
Complete horse shit. So Fifa change the rules halfway through the competition to allow Portugal and (probably more importantly for them) France by making the play-offs seeded they now go and protect them AGAIN by doing this. Fuck you Fifa.
Anyway due to this the top eight seeds will probably be:
1. South Africa 2. Spain 3. Brazil 4. Holland 5. Italy 6. Portugal 7. Germany 8. France ----- (and then) 9. Argentina 10. England 11. Cameroon 12. Greece 13. USA 14. Mexico 15. Ivory Coast 16. Chile ----- 17. Switzerland 18. Uruguay 19. Serbia 20. Australia 21. Nigeria 22. Denmark 23. Algeria 24. Paraguay ----- 25. Slovenia 26. Slovakia 27. Ghana 28. Honduras 29. Japan 30. South Korea 31. New Zealand 32. North Korea
Okay a few more complaints: - Japan beat Australia in the qualifiers, yet are waaaaaay behind them - South Korea are also way too low - Nigeria made it by the skin of their teeth, yet are ahead of Ghana who made it ages ago - Cameroon ahead of Ivory Coast? Do behave.
Anyway if this is what they will be going by this is the best and worst combinations for England and the USA imo (remember there can only be two European teams in any group and no two teams from any other continent can be drawn together):
England's Dream Group 1. South Africa 2. England 3. Denmark 4. New Zealand
USA's Dream Group 1. South Africa 2. USA 3. Denmark 4. New Zealand
England's Nightmare Group 1. Brazil 2. England 3. Serbia 4. Ghana
USA's Nightmare Group 1. Brazil 2. USA 3. Serbia 4. Ghana

Of course they could decide the seedings on anything really..... Fifa are dicks and anglophobic Michael Platini is one of the ones on the descion pannel. But if they do use the rankings these are possible groups I have generated randomly.
Group A: South Africa USA Uruguay Japan
Group B: Germany Ivory Coast Switzerland Hondorus
Group C: Spain England Paraguay Ghana
Group D: Portugal Chile Australia Slovakia
Group E: Italy Cameroon Denmark South Korea
Group F: France Argentina Serbia North Korea
Group G: Brazil Mexico Algeria Slovenia
Group H: Netherlands Greece Nigeria New Zealand
Well if that happens then I'd be pretty happy if I was American and rather nervous about our chances.

So we have a little more information on the seedings!
The four pots will be like this;
Pot A; The 8 Seeds Pot B; The Remaining 8 European Teams Pot C; The Rest of Africa and South America Pot D; North America, Asia and Oceania....(or to put it more accurately- New Zealand)
Now while Pots C and D are already set Pots A and B depend on which teams will get seeded. South Africa, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Germany & Argentina will almost certainly be six of them but it's a toss up between the remaining four- England, Netherlands, France & Portugal. I think England look good to get one of the eight spots and that Portugal look unlikely, so it's just out of France/Holland really.
It means that England could get a group including Portugal, Ivory Coast and Mexico.... or a group with Slovenia, Algeria and North Korea.
