I thought I'd make this thread so we can discus this years Wrestlemania.
So far the card looks like it'll probably be this;
World Title Cena (c) vs Orton
WWE Title Edge (c) vs HHH
Chris Jericho vs Mickey Rourke
Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker
Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy
Money In The Bank Match- Shelton Benjamin & 7
What else do you think will be on the card?

Money In The Bank Match- Shelton Benjamin & 7 Ah, I really hope they go back to 5 in this match instead of 8. Tbh, I loved the MITB in 05 and 06 which each had 5 people in it. The one in 07 just seemed too cluttered. 8 people in the match is way to many. I didn't see last year's MITB but that had 6 I believe. Um either way MITB is always my most anticipated match at Mania... Nothing on this card you have posted really catches my attention. Cena vs Orton has been done to death… Edge vs HHH might be good, but I’m kinda sick of both HHH and Edge in the title picture. I loved the past Mania title matches because it either had a feud that was new and fresh or someone was in the main title picture for the first time in their career. None of this will occur this year sadly…

Well Cena/Orton SHOULD have happened last year. That's what everybody expected and that's what everybody wanted. Then HHH had to stick his big nose into that feud and ruin everything.
When will HHH realize that he is simply not a draw anymore? Nobody orders a PPV for him and nobody gives a damn about him. He's the single worst thing in the WWE. Bar none. The fact Jeff Hardy gets shafted because of his worthless ass makes it even worse. Would you rather see Edge vs Matt/Jeff/Christian or Edge vs HHH?
I don't mind Orton and Cena. Orton is the best heel at the moment and Cena is the best face, so them facing each other is fine with me.
Taker vs HBK is great. These guys haven't had a proper one on one since the 1998 Royal Rumble Casket Match that almost ended Shawn's career for good. Can't wait for this. Taker should win.
Matt vs Jeff could either be fantastic or awful. Their Vengeance 01 match wasn't great, but they have both improved a lot since then and this match is sure to get more time.
Y2J/Rouke is just pathetic. McMahon hated The Wrestler, but now he loves it as it's getting awards. Vince is so desperate to be accepted and respected by the main stream media that he will do anything. He should look at some of Foley's old ECW promos, rather than lie about watching them- Foley: "I learnt that no matter how tables I went through, or body parts I have to lose...wrestling will never be respected."
Last years MITB match was meant to have 8 people but Jeff Hardy was removed after his wellness violation so it ended up with 7 men in it. I too preferred 6 in the match, but then great wrestlers like Morrison or Miz might not even make it onto the card which would be a disgrace.
For this years MITB I'd have- Shelton, Miz, Morrison, Kofi, Carlito, Kendrick, Bourne and Punk.
Actually they should have Miz and Morrison in a tag match instead, perhaps against Carlito and Primo and maybe an IC title match with Punk against Regal- that'll free up so more spots in that match. Maybe then Shelton, Kofi, Kendrick, Bourne, Rey, Truth, MVP and then a token big guy like Kane again.

So the PPV is beginning to take shape now then. This is what it looks like. WWE Championship HHH (c) vs Orton Fuck you Hunter! You cost us Cena vs Orton again! And you cost us Edge vs Jeff vs Matt vs Christian! Also since Orton won the rumble he should get to choose who he faces so why would he want to face Hunter?! My excitement level for this match (MEL)- 3/10 World Championship Edge (c) vs Cena This again. We've seen this before. A lot. But I think Edge's best rival is Cena and Cena's best rival is Edge. It's like Rock/Austin only nowhere near as good. MEL- 5/10 Matt vs Jeff This could be great. Or disappointing. I am thinking it may be the start of a long feud or that Christian will run in and screw over Jeff. 7/10 HBK vs Taker Well it could be Taker vs Koslov, but it's won't. This is one year where I think there is no chance at all Taker will lose, well at least I hope he won't lose to HBK. This could be a very good match. 7/10 Money in the Bank Punk vs ? vs ? vs ? vs ? vs ? vs ? vs ? So for the 7th year running we won't have an IC title match at Mania......bloody stupid. Punk beat Morrison & Miz in a triple threat match on Raw. Hopefully they can both find their way into the match as Morrison was the highlight of the match last year and Miz would do some awesome stuff too no doubt, but maybe they want a tag title match instead. I am looking forwards this match as the MITB always delivers. 9/10 Chris Jericho vs Hmmm, how will it be? Austin? Hogan? Rourke? Savage?! I have no idea. But if it's Hogan I will hate it, Rouke I won't mind, Austin I'd like, Savage I'd freaking mark out. Anybody looking forwards to Mania XXV?

Mickey Rourke has been quoted as saying he discussed the Jericho fight, but was advised against it, so it won't be Rourke, thank Christ. I reckon the smart money is on Austin facing Jericho this year, as he is the most appropriate choice to shut him the hell up. Plus I'd love to see Jericho's face when Austin's music hits...
I think it was a mistake announcing Austin right at the beginning though, as it would have been a great shock moment to have him as the final inductee and walk right up behind Jericho and Stunner his ass.
But I would equally be as pleased if it were Savage. They have the new DVD to plug, so bank on the fact that Savage will be inducted this year. I hear he still keeps in great shape.
Also, I was very impressed with the Jericho/Steamboat segment. I think The Dragon cut a great promo, and it was superb to see all the old footage of him. He really was a fucking star back in the olden days. And the match between him and Savage - another reason to have Savage inducted this year - remains the greatest ever in my opinion.
As far as the main WrestleMania card goes, it usually pretty irrelevant, and second only to the occasion. But this year, WWE has been on a creative roll, and I will definitely be ordering the PPV. The last two supershows have been excellent, as have the TV shows.
Taker will never lose at WrestleMania, that's a given. It's become a tradition much like MITB and no IC title match, but the match against Taker serves to create it's own angle every year. I would have loved it to be JBL though, as I find him highly entertaining, but I just wish he could back up his excessive arrogance in the ring instead of being made to look like a right chump all the time.
Orton v HHH is the natural progression to the Orton saga. Just as I predicted right after No Way Out, it's the only logical next step. Either that or he kicks the crap out of Linda and her grandchildren (I'd buy that for a dollar...).
Tripper's been a bit lost on Smackdown, and I actually like having him as champion. He just pulls it off so well and looks the part, even though there is obvious nepotism at work.

I came to like JBL in the end during his title reign, (though he did lose any respect he had from me when he assaulted Blue Meanie at ONS) but he can't go in the ring anymore. When you fail to have entertaining matches two times running against Shawn Michaels there is simply no hope for you and it's time to leave before Jericho attacks you for being over the hill.
Yes I LOVED the Steamboat promo. This has been the best angle I have seen in years I think. Every week they get better and better. Flair's promo was incredible, then Piper topped that and now Steamboat gives what people are calling the promo of his career! But also Jericho has valid points. Steamboat DID kinda sell out when he came back to the WWF as the fire breathing 'Dragon' and that's what is making this angle work. You should see the promos on youtube and the amount of venom he is getting from fans. Wow!
Austin would be the logical choice as he has been quoted as saying that Chris is one of the few guys he would trust to have a match with at this point in his career, which is a big show of respect from the Rattlesnake. Would Austin have a war of words like we saw from Flair, Piper and Steamboat? I'd love to see it but instead we'd get a stunner right off the bat which may cheapen the whole thing.
Hogan fits in with the 'washed-up legend' that Y2J keeps moaning about what with his celebrity wrestling program, but the problem is that Hogan wouldn't even attempt or care about making Jericho look good at Mania.
Savage would be mark out moment of a lifetime for me, but I don't think Vince has forgiven him for whatever it is that he did. Yes there is DVD, but Warrior got one too and Vince isn't a guy who would turn down an easy buck. It's true that they aren't going to bury him either like they did for Warrior but I read somewhere that Savage was Vince's favourite wrestler once and this DVD isn't exactly going to be praising him either....hell rather than give us opinions of wrestlers and WWE hire-ups we are getting Matt Stryker and Maria talking on the DVD... Is he in good shape? I heard recently that he was in a terrible state.
I thought it may be Steamboat at one point but it looks like that's not going to happen given what happened on Raw.

Well Im going and I think its going to be a once in a lifetime thing, but at the momment there isnt a match that will make me touch myself with excitement, altho if Taker and HBK can turn their rumble ending into a 30 minute match I would be delighted.

Yeah that was the best end to a rumble ever I think, though the ending to the 15 man SD Rumble with Eddie and Angle rivals it. If the match is nearly as good as the end to that rumble it will be awesome.
The Money in the Bank however is looking odd..... Punk beat Miz and Morrison to be in, fair enough. But then Kane beat Rey and Knox! I know Kane was in the very first MitB but this match would suit Rey very well. Worst of all though is Mark fucking Henry being in it by beating Santino on ECW!! Henry improved A LOT last year, but unless he does a moonsault off the top of a ladder he shouldn't be in the match.
It looks like they may be doing a Melina vs Maryse match which is fine with me, but I do not want them to unify the title belts as there are too many Divas for one show. Perhaps they are going to have Maryse screw Melina out of the Women's Champion in a match against Beth Phoenix so they can bring in Trish Stratus to fight Phoenix which has been rumoured.
I wouldn't be surprised if they do unify the Women's titles and I also wouldn't be surprised if they unify the tag team titles, which they should do really. It'll probably be a match like Miz & Morrison vs The Colons vs Cryme Time vs The Legacy.
It's also looking likely like we will get a triple threat with Edge/Cena/Big Show which would suck. The only two times that a triple threat at Mania should have happened is 2004 and 1999.

This week on SD coming up Jeff Hardy says he won't face his brother one on one and will instead win the MitB and ge his title back. Then Matt Hardy says in that case he will be in the MitB too. Matt then loses his qualifying match to MVP. Shelton then beats Jeff to make it into the match after Matt attacks Benji causing the DQ.
On the next week's show Finlay beats THE Brian Kendrick to make it in the MitB (Booooooooooo!). This gives us;
Rey vs Kane vs Henry vs Shelton vs MVP vs Finlay .... BOOOO! Two spots open hopefully Bourne gets one of them as we need more athletic guys in there. Maybe Christian too?
Matt Hardy hinted that he may have been the one who was behind the attacks, but still did not confirm it. Hopefully Matt is lying so Jeff will want to fight him and Cage is the real one behind it.

Well, the MITB match usually is my favorite match but looking at the participants I'm very disappointed. I still don't know why Henry is in this match but something must be up. My money is on him leaping off the top of the ladder only to go crashing through the ring. I'd mark out to that but asking wwe to do something that cool is asking a lot.
I really hope Christian is in it and wins this match. I'm tired of tuning into ECW and watching him lose to the All American... American.

Woo, you should give a spoiler warning before announcing results from Smackdown before it airs. I'm not gonna watch it this week now...
About Jericho's opponent... there is strong internet chatter that it will be...
... JERRY LAWLER!!!
Man, how much would that be an anticlimax?
Basically everyone's been ruled out except him and Flair, and I really hope it's not Flair. I want him to stay retired and not tarnish his image any more than it is.
Having said that, nobody's mentioned The Rock. Dunno how fit he is, but he's definitely a big enough name to bring to WrestleMania.

Yeah Jerry Lawler would suck ass. The guy was beat by Hurricane Helms at NYR, no way I'd buy him as a threat to Jericho. Lawler has never wrestled at Mania before though....
I was thinking about The Rock earlier today. But from a storyline perspective Y2J would have a lot of respect for him for getting out of wrestling and trying to distance himself from it unlike Flair and Piper etc.
I read that some people think it will be Rey which wouldn't make any sense at all.

Okay Big Show foolishly confirmed that he will be in the World Title match against Cena and Edge on an interview with VH1. Now he has let the cat out of the bag Vince may change it as apparently he is getting very cross with storyline leaks getting out. I guess he has woke up and realized that the IWC isn't just 3 people on a computer.
Also being rumoured is a 25 Divas Battle Royal. I think this is cool as it gives all the women a chance to get on the card. What's even better is that there aren't even 25 Divas on the roster so they are going to be bringing in some people from Divas past, which could be true. Wonder who the 25 could be;
1. Melina 2. Maryse 3. Beth 4. Mickie 5. Candice 6. McCool 7. Katie Lea 8. Neidhart 9. Eve Torres 10. Gillian Hall 11. Bella Twin #1 12. Bella Twin #2 13. Layla El 14. Kelly Kelly 15. Alicia Fox 16. Rosa Mendez 17. Maria 18. Tiffany (who?) 19. Gail Kim (yay!!!!)
That means there are 6 spots open, 5 if they add in Lillian Garcia. I'm thinking the 5 will be Victoria, Torrie Wilson, Ashley, Molly Holly (fuck yes!) and Trish Stratus (though it may be a waste to have Trish and Molly return in a match like this).

Oh god that means we're gonna see Mae Young again... But I'd gladly suffer that horror if Stacy were to put in an appearance.

Well one diva who won't be there is Candice who apprently got injured again sadly. I read a rumour that they are trying to bring in Wendi Ritcher! Damn that would be crazy. Never thought she'd return after how she was srewed out of the WWF in the famous screw-job. Fit Finlay who I thought had made it into the MitB hasn't, but Kofi Kingston has making it Kofi vs Punk vs Benji vs Kane vs Henry vs MVP vs vs . There was an ECW battle royal yesterday for a spot in the match but I won't spoil it in case someone wants to watch it... Looking at the card as usual it looks like every match will be good, apart from the world title matches.
