Robocop, Still an awesome film in my eyes. It's one of the few franchises I would welcome a reboot of.

I have 3 films to add here;
The first is Collateral. I have seen it before and thought it was pretty good, but it's really gone up in my estimation from watching it the 2nd time through. The best Tom Cruise film in years. ****
The 2nd was The Bourne Supremacy. I had seen Identity years ago and wanted to watch the sequel and it sure didn't disappoint. Matt Damon is simply incredible as Bourne and the film never ever gets dull. ****
Speaking of dull, I just watched The Da Vinci Code... It was just so damn tedious and virtually nothing happens at all. Ian Mcclellan brings some life to the script with his wonderful role but other than that there was nothing to praise at all, bar the gorgeous Audrey Tautou (sp?). Also one of the twists at the end was that Audrey's character is a direct descendant of Jesus wasn't exactly earth shattering as I was sure that it was already revealed that she was half an hour prior. It has to be the worst Tom Hanks film I have ever seen. It was really hard to follow along, but I wouldn't bother trying. **

Went to see Diary Of The Dead on Friday night.
***SPOILERS BELOW***
What a fucking waste of time... George A. Romero should be ashamed of himself, putting his name to this crap. If ever there was a case for an Alan Smithee credit...
The premise is cheesy. Seen it all before. What's wrong with a full-scale military vs zombie armageddon? That's what I wanted to see. Instead I get this contrived pish about a documentary being finished to honour the fallen cameraman. "I added music for effect..."
Please....
The dialogue was shockingly bad, but occasionally shockingly bad and hokey dialogue can be masked by good acting. Not on this occasion though. Oh no - I've seen Friday 13th movies which deserve oscars next to this amateurish bollocks.
I know being overrun by the undead is not very believable, but somehow Romero always had this ability to make it slightly convincing. Not this time. It started off badly, trailed off a bit in the middle, and the less said about the end the better.
I've never been so gutted about a film I've seen at the cinema. Even the gore wasn't satisfactory enough to make up for the lack of any redeeming features of this movie.
Romero - or any fan of horror - should avoid this mummified turkey at all costs.
And don't be fooled by the poster quotes which claim Romero is back to his best. They are lies. All of them.
A lousy 2/10 from me I'm afraid.

I went to the cinema to see Vantage Point and ended up being pressured into seeing The Other Boyelin (sp?) girl. It was so, so boring. Almost Lost In Translation boring. If you know your Tudor history (I am sure most people were taught it in school here) then this will be very tedious as you know Anne will have her head cut off anyway.
It was terrible I thought. Natalie Portman was the only good film about it as her character (Anne) scheme her way to become queen was a joy to watch. Shame the first half of the film was about Scarlett Johanson who's title character was terrible and very unsympathetic. Plus I really don't think she can act and Natalie Portman looked better in the film too (I wish I could change my votes in FHM's sexiest woman poll now...).
I can't recommend this film at all, despite Portman's (and the actor who played the evil Earl of Norfolk- he was pretty good too actually) performances.

The Other Boyelin (sp?) girl.** Ha ha, my mate is in that film. He was an extra in a scene with Johanson and Bana. He reckons Eric Bana is a pretty cool dude. I didn't wanna hurt his feelings, but I think it really does look shite.

Haha awesome. That would be a cool job to have. I'd love to work with Scarlet...
Apparently the book the film was based on was a real page turner, but any excitement is not translated at all well.

I saw a few films recently.
The Bankjob I saw this at the cinema. I wanted to see Vantage Point again, but once more saw something else. Unlike The Other Bolin girl though this was pretty fun. Based on a real bank job in the 70’s and the aftermath of the heist. The characters not only steal money but a villains bank statements, which implicate bent coppers, and explicit photographs belonging to a crazy drug dealing pimp of a certain royal family member. So after the heist, which is pretty tense despite the fact it’s obvious they will pull it off, they then have to avoid the various policeman, thugs, corrupt cops, gangs and even the British government that are after them. Not an incredible film, but enjoyable and worth a watch. ***
The Orphanage After glowing reviews and my brother recommending it I went to see this yesterday (Vantage Point wasn’t on!). It was pretty scary and made my friend jump quite a lot. I didn’t jump, but then I watched with my hands over my face at points. It wasn’t as great as I had been led to believe but it had a good ending, which I was still thinking about today and the more I try and work it out the more I like it. While not as great as the reviews I read it’s still the best Spanish film I have ever seen (yes that included Pan‘s Labyrinth). ***
Battle Royale Yeah, I watched it again and still love it. The book is defiantly better though as it makes more of characters feel like real people instead of just a class number. Also the constant dreams and flashbacks don’t work very well in the film imo. Still it’s incredible and remains one of my top 5 films ever. Read the book though. *****
Pulp Fiction Another one of my favourites. I usually just watch the scenes staring Samuel L Jackson as they are the highlights, but today I watched the whole thing and it’s one of the funniest most enjoyable films I have seen. I watched it with my brother and his girlfriend along with Battle Royale as she had never seen either and didn’t like Tarrintino after seeing Death Proof. She’s still not a fan, but I put that down to her poor film taste. If you haven’t watched this go slap yourself for being so stupid and then buy the DVD. *****

Tropic Thunder Well I went to see cinema to see this film with some friends and think it was alright. There is a part before the film begins proper which shows trailers for the 'actors' films which are hilarious, especially the one with Ben Stiller's actor staring in 'Scorcher V.' The fact that was the highlight of the film is fairly sad seeing as it's within the first 2 minutes, but there are good laughs to be had, just not quite as funny as that- well apart from one other moment where Steve Coogan meets his end which had me in laughing for minutes. Tom Cruise is funny as a foul-mouthed agent and Robert Downer Jr. is great in this film too playing an Australian tough-man method actor (based on Russell Crowe no doubt) who "stays in character until he does the audio commentary." Good comedy. ***
Scream I say this on the BBC the other night and still love it. It's clever makes jokes at the horror genre while making a scary horror movie too. *****
Point Break A fun film with Keanu Reaves as an undercover officer trying to catch Patrick Swayze's gang of surfer bank robers. The plot is awful but it's filled with great action scenes including a thrilling on-foot chase and a famours scene where Reaves jumps out of a plane without a parachute and catches up with Swayze who is parachuting and begins an in-air chase. ****

Ha ha, I also watched this the other night when it was on TV. Not seen it in years but I still enjoyed it. Reeves is also surprisingly good. I watched The Devil's Advocate too the other night. (Is this a Keanu Reeves season on BBC?) Not as good as I remembered it. The FX are a little cheesy in places. Still, there's a full frontal by Charlize Theron, which was actually better than I remembered! Finally, last night I finally plucked up the courage to see The Dark Knight, and a bloody champion film it is too. ***SPOILER ALERT*** I somewhat agree with most of the plaudits heaped on Ledger, so there's no point me fawning over this "career high" performance. It's all been said before. I did however almost crack up with laughter at the scene where he wore the nurse's uniform. Especially the botched detonation of the hospital bomb. For me though the highlight was the transformation of Harvey Dent into Two-Face. The facial effects were unlike anything I've ever seen in a main character. Unbelievably realistic. And Eckart nails it bob-on, as his twisted mind grapples with revenge and justice. I also enjoyed Maggie Gyllenhaal taking over the reigns from Katie Holmes, as she seemed far more comfortable in the role, even though the character was largely unnecessary. Everything about this film was massively appealing to me, although I did have slight reservations about the somewhat far-fetched SONAR scenes towards the end. Finally, it was great to see Bill Fichtner's heroic bank manager going postal before getting both barrels. What a great cameo very early on. It took time for me to get around to seeing it, but I'm glad I waited and had almost an entire cinema screen all to myself!

Lucky Number Sleven I really wanted to go and watch this at the cinema when it came out, but never got round to doing it. The cast was enough to get me intrested, Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Ben Kinglsy, Lucy Lui and um...Josh Hartnett. After watching it I think it was worth getting excited about and even enjoyed Josh Hartnett as a cocky everyman.
The film starts off as a funny typical ganger film with Harnett being mistaken for somebody else and brought before two gang leaders being played by Kingsley and Freeman but towards the end of the film it suddenly turns on it's head and the tone of the film completly changes leaving you confused as to what's going on until it's revealed at the end. The twist might be obvious to some, but I wasn't paying that much attention to it as I was pretty tired when watching. Lucy Liu is fin as Harnet's next-door neighbour and her banter with Harnett is enjoyable, however it's Willis who steals this film for me, a great performance from him. ****

Star Wars Episode 1:
God does this film re-ignite my hate for the english accent in the star wars universe. It also helps me hate Liam Neeson even more.
Other than that, it's an alright film other than Jar Jar binks. And unlike Indiana Jones, Lucas hasn't raped his franchise.

What? He raped Star Wars completely! The crappy gold edition versions are proof of that. What's with the Han shoots Greedo first bollocks anyway? The gold editions are bollocks, he says that's he he intended his films to be, but that's just a lie from Lucas who's a big liar. A big raping liar. Then you have the billions of toys, video games, lunch boxes, playing cards, duvet covers, rugs made from Wookie fur (probably) and it becomes clear that he isn't making films anymore- just a £1,000,000 toy commercial.
Episode 1 sucks imo. I don't see the problem with English accents though, most people in Episode IV had British accents.

Oh but not as noticeble in Episode 1. Anyway I'm comparing the raping of Indiana Jones in Crystal Skull as to Star Wars. Seriously, Aliens in Indy wtf man? WTF!!
But yes the gold editions of Star Wars do suck, Lucas should of never of messed with the films but these people are milking cash cows, they dont see it as we do they see it as a money spinner. Seriously if you thought Episode 1 was awful dont ever watch the Clone Wars film they put out a few months ago, it's utter bollocks.

So 2000 year old knights, crazy guys who can rip our hearts from living people who stay alive during this, people's faces getting melted by biblical objects and the fact Sean Connery is old enough to play Harrison Ford's father are fine with you then?

No I'm not fine but the Aliens pissed me off more than anything. Everything about Indy is wrong. Stupid cash cows.
