www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2006/09/overcoming-news-addiction/# I found This Interesting blog this morning, and realised this applies to me. So I am going to try this and see what happens. I find myself scouring the news channels and teletext looking for ultimately meaningless news stories to feed what I now realise is an addiction of sorts. I found it quite sad when I realised everything in this blog, I was experiencing also. So here goes. Whenever I feel the need to inject news, I'm gonna go for a walk in the park and try to shed a few stone before I'm 40 next year.

lol, I have this too. I hate not knowing what is going on in the world. I check Sky News active like 5 times a day, its awful. Plus it never changes over like 3 days so it seems kinda pointless. I also buy two newspapers daily, dunno why though, I just do.
I couldn't imagine going cold turkey. Imagine all the stuff you wouldn't know!

Not entered the cold turkey stage yet and it's been five days so far. However, my mate in California phoned me last night and told me about some soldier nut going postal at an army barracks. I still resisted the temptation of switching on Sky News though. I don't mind being told news, I'm just gonna continue to choose not to watch it on my own accord. It's great so far, as I've just discovered Warehouse 13.

Cool, I'd rather live with paranoia than addiction.

I was a news junkie for a while. Now I'm not. Neither is better than the other IMO. However, I did find myself getting in a lot more debates when I did watch the news whereas now I just say, "I dunno."
Kinda nice not having to fight with morons about shit I can't change.

Lol, that's exactly what I do now. I have no idea what's going on in the world so I can't argue about it. The only problem now is I find myself focussing on my own problems now, which is kinda depressing in itself. My name is MetalBlade, and I am an addict. I haven't watched the news in over two months. YAAAAAY!

Yeah. Depression sucks. Now I'm depressed that I'm depressed. That sucks. Everything sucks.
I'm gonna go watch the news. It'll cheer me up.
Wait, what?

What's Tiger Woods up to these days? I hear he's been in the news.

He's a sex addict, had a bunch of affairs.
I don't care one way or another. He lost some cool points with me, I'm sure that hurts his feelings.
I wanna know if they found BIG and Pac's killers yet.

Tiger Woods s now officially a legend in my book! You always see those Gillette adverts where the guy shaves and suddenly the girl is all over him, well Tiger Woods proves that Gillette really is the best a man can get.

So I've decided to do this in a completely different way.
As of this morning, I have blocked all wrestling websites on my computer. For the whole month of Feb, I'm going to go cold turkey on wrestling news and see if I enjoy the products any more than I have been by knowing the spoilers.

You chose the shortest month of the year to try this? That's commitment. Anyway, I've been doing this for the past two years or so. I'm gonna say it doesn't help.
