Okay I just watched Lockdown. It was an alright PPV but it felt like something was missing. Flyers was the crowd rather quiet or were they just not mic’d up properly? Because you could hardly hear them at all. Also I have to say that Tenay and West were awful here, even by their standards. They should spend less time talking about the stories and more time actually calling the matches at PPV’s I reckon. Well Tenay is the play-by-play guy so it’s mainly his fault.
So the opening match was the 5 way X-Division encounter, Fairly good match this with Daniels still under the Suicide mask for those interested. Kiyoshi being the first person eliminated seemed stupid to me you’d think they would have had him and Bashir be in the final three to double team Suicide. Btw Bashir is the most boring wrestler ever, but I liked it when he baseball slid the cage door and nearly escaped, that was a good spot. So Suicide wins again with a suicide dive. I wonder what they are going to do at the next PPV?
The 4 way Knockouts match wasn’t great. ODB is horrible. I hate her more than any other wrestler today. It looks like Sojo is a heel again which is odd….not that I care about her personally. I thought Daffney or Rayne should have got the win as they needed it much more than ODB.
Morgan/Abyss was bad. Abyss sucks now sadly, he needs a heel turn again and fast. Also they need to stop doing the thumbtacks spot every PPV, it’s so meaningless now, even the bag of glass no longer feels special. Hopefully this match will end this feud once and for all and I am hoping Stevie Richards will help turn Abyss into a heel sometime down the road.
The three way tag team title match was very good but for some reason it seemed the crowd weren’t into it. The fact the IWGP Jr. tag belts were on the line meant there was only going to be one winner here.
The Knockouts title match was very good, while it lasted, in fact for some reason I enjoyed this the most as when Kong entered the ring I kept thinking to myself ‘Oh god Kong‘s going to DESTORY Angelina!’ awesome! Kong doing a Molly-go-Round type move was incredible! I was loving the dynamic between Kong and Wilde too- while they both hate Sky they don’t like each other as Kong proved when she brutally clotheslined Taylor. It was cool when the Beautiful People tied Kong’s hair to the cage too, not sure what was going to happen with this spot but it would have been a great storyline touch if Kong had to cut her own hair to retain the belt. Sadly none of that happened as Love was KO’d by a cross body and they had to improvise the finish. Here’s hoping we get a rematch.
The other tag team title match was great too. I don’t think the table bit where Roode too went through the table was really botched. On TV anyway that spot came off looking fantastic. The end was very creative too, but again something felt missing with the match, perhaps the fact they had almost the exact same match when I saw TNA in London a few months ago.
The Lethal Lockdown match was good too, but the commentary was awful! West and Tenay pretty much no sold the final guitar shot on Booker T which was the pivotal moment of the match. AJ’s spot was just insane! I thought he was legitimately hurt as the Mafia failed to catch him and I too thought Nash’s quad was a tic kicking time bomb. Who was Joe talking to backstage before he came out? That was a strange surreal moment right there. I have to say I too marked out when ‘Bobby Lashley’ came on the tron. I don’t like him but it was a massive surprise.
So then we have the main event. Yeah it wasn’t very good and Foley as champion seems like a bad choice but I am going to forgive TNA for this one was the feud leading up to the match was incredible. Really, I marked out for the video package they played before the match (the first one that is……..). It was so, so well done it deserved a round of applause.
Overall this was a solid PPV. Nothing here was horrible, but I don’t know if I would want to see any of the matches for a second time sadly.
