Okay I waited a while to do this because I couldn't think of a full 5 matches... TNA had my favourite match of the year- Storm vs Harris (Texas Death match, not the blindfold shit-fest) but this is a WWE thread so here goes...
5. Batista vs Taker- Wrestlemania XXIII
Well this was surprisingly good. Who would have thought that these two would have such good chemistry?
4. 2007 Royal Rumble Match
I thought this rumble was very bad. Very, very bad. Then we got Taker vs HBK at the end and they saved this match by themselves. Incredible! Best final two in a 30 man rumble ever.
3. HBK vs Cena- Wrestlemania XXIII
Wow, both title matches at Mania are on my list. This was great.
2. HBK vs Cena- Raw
This was even better! I was there live too!
1. Last Man Standing- Cena vs Umaga- Royal Rumble
Wow! Cena in my top 3 matches! Umaga gets best match of the year in 2007 and 2008! This proved that Cena had at last turned the corner and was capable of very good matches such as this.
What's your favourite WWE match from this year?

5. Batista vs Taker- Wrestlemania XXIII Well this was surprisingly good. Who would have thought that these two would have such good chemistry? I actually just watched that match yesterday. I had like 15mins to kill before I had to step out and decided to watch this. The match while ok, was nothing compared to the buildup. Taker had the streak going into mania and Batista has never lost the title without giving it up on his own terms. Also, these two never fought before which was even more special. I think this is where the mania title matches are lacking these days. Every title match it seems has been done before. I think mania is truly great when they bring together feuds they have never taken place before. As for the list, I would have to agree with your choices. However, I never saw the HBK vs Cena match so I would have to replace that with the Fatal Four way match at Backlash which was actually pretty good.
