Here is a link to the 100 greatest film characters ever as voted for by Empire magazine readers. I thought you guys might like it, I'm a real sucker for these kind of lists and I enjoyed it. But how the hell did Steve McQueen's Cooler King in the Great Escape not make the list! Crazy! Michael Caine's Get Carter was robbed too.

What the hell? Clarice Starling gets in and Rambo doesn't? Mal Reynolds gets in and Batman doesn't? Brick Tamland gets in and Beetlejuice doesn't? Neo gets in and Superman doesn't?
Jesus Christ, what kind of clowns compiled this list?

The Third Man is even more of a classic and Harry Lime isn't on the list.
Marlon Brando only getting one role in the list was suprising.
I think the horror icons were overlooked too. Yes Freddie, Hanibal and Bates made it but no Mike Myers?! He's the ultimate horror character ..... no wait a minute no FRANKENSTIEN!?

Before even reading I bet Ledger's Joker is near the top. *rolls eyes*

3rd lol. You weren't a fan?
I thought he nailed that role. It did seem like he was a bit similar to Prison Break's T-Bag at times, but I thought he was incredible.

I thought Ledgers Joker was a pretty accurate portrayal of a madman like he was in the few novels that Ledger had read. But there are alot more novels out there where Joker just creates anarchy for the hell of it and none of what he does has any reasoning or motion to it at all.

No I loved it, TDK is one of my favourite films largely due to The Joker. But I can't shake the feeling it's being vastly overrated due to Ledger's death, it's like Empire said, "Well if we put him near the top it'll make our list more legit."
