OMG did anybody else in the UK watch this show on Channel 4? Or catch it the first time round on E4 last Halloween?!
I've gotta say it has to be one of the best TV programs I have seen in years. The basic premise is that a zombie outbreak happens while Big Brother is going on and while the rest of Britain are being turned into the undead the people in the house are completely oblivious to the fact that Davina is now a zombie trying to eat the boss of the show and that nights evictee.
I know you probably read Big Brother and sighed to yourself thinking it would be tacky or something, indeed I thought it looked rather crap judging by the adverts and thought it may be a comedy. Boy was I wrong. This is a non-stop horror zombie movie....only it's not a movie and has nowhere near as much money, though it looks terrific still.
The fact this was only a TV program, a British one at that, and and E4 TV program makes the way looks like it could be a proper movie makes it even better.
The Big Brother satire is great too. At one point the shows' creator chops up a dead housemate to use as bait for the hordes of zombies that are trying to get them while the rest of the housemates look on shocked- "Just think of it as a task" snipes the horrid producer. Another exchange I liked was when one of the housemates says that this is probably God punishing everyone prompting another character, playing the typical stupid Big Brother bloke, to reply "yeah...but he doesn't have to be such a cunt about it." The final shot is of a zombie standing in a electric store watching the live feed on TV, obviously a symbolism of the shows viewers.
Seriously, you should try and watch this somehow. If you like zombies (looks at Metalblade) and let's be honest who doesn't like zombies you will love this. It's no Romero classic, isn't as impact-full as 28 Days Later nor as horrifically funny as Shaun of the Dead, but it sure beats watching the real Big Brother.
