Okay so I know that Metal is the only person who will even read this but yeah...
So the WBO Darts world championship is back on. Down to the Quarter finals now.
Is anybody watching? If so who do you think will win?
Yesterday the champion was knocked out as was last years runner up Simon, the Wizard, Whitlock, who I thought would be a contender this year.
So if you are watching who do you think will win? I always like Ted Hankey due to the whole vampire gimmick, but Martin Adams is the man on form at the moment. Then there is the No.1 seed Anderson and John Boy Walton, who is playing the best he has in years!
So the 1/4 final looks like this;
Tony O'Shea vs Darryl Fitton Gary Anderson vs Scott Waites Martin Adams vs John Walton Ted Hankey vs Gary Robson
Some tough matches there. I think Fitton, Anderson, Walton and Hankey will advance. I like Wolfie but Walton was very convincing in his 2nd match match.

I'm not watching this but I am reading this thread. Although I was the second person to read it, so someone else read it also.
I watched the darts on Sky over Xmas/New Year, as it is far superior to this nesbit* darts as I call it.
*nesbit is a local expression meaning something cheap, tacky or second-class, as in "I went to the nesbit (see Netto/Lidl) shop for some beer, as I'm a bit skint this week". It's origins stem from the show Rab C. Nesbit, where the whole family are cheapskates and everything they buy is, well... nesbit.
All the big names have left nesbit darts to go to Sky, where the competition and excitement levels are much higher. The quarter final match between Raymond van Barneveld and Rocket Ronnie Baxter was some of the highest calibre and nailbiting arrows I ever saw.
Having said that, Barney got completely annihilated by Phil The Power in the final. But then again he did come over from nesbit darts...

Well yeah Phil Taylor is in a different league to anybody else.
I did see an appalling match yesterday between Assassin Martin Atkins and Gary Robson where they were all over the place. I have no idea what was going on in that match, but the commentators put it down to sweat. I think some of the WBO guys may give the Sky boys a run for their money- Simon Whitlock had a close match against Phil Taylor last year I think.
How about female darts? Do Sky have a female world championship? If so how would they fair against the great Trina Guliver?

There was a woman took part in the Sky tournament. She played against the blokes in the main competition. Dunno her name though, or who she played. Or even how she did. She probably got hammered though. I can just imagine the abuse she must have got from a few thousand pissed-up Xmas revellers. In a big pub. Awesome...

So the final has just this second finished and it was my favourite The Count Ted Hankey who won it, beating The Silverback Tony O'Shea in a gripping final. It was first to 7 sets and came down to the wire as Hankey won 7-6. The commentators said it was possibly the best final ever....well it was good, but better than the 2006 final where Adams was beating Nixon 6-0 when Nixon to tie the score at 6-6 only to lose it in the final set to the Wolfman? No, not as good as that. But still a great final. It's my favourite sporting moment from 2009 so far
