So the WWE has had a very good year in 08 and here's hoping next year is just as good. The Rumble marks the road to Mania, but fuck that- it's the Royal Rumble that I love. It's the only PPV that I order, though this year I may have to pass it up and watch it on Daily Motion instead.
Still though I love the Rumble PPV. I just hope HHH doesn't win it. It may sound petty, but that would ruin the whole PPV for me.
Anybody else gonna try and watch this?

I'll try, it's my favourite WWE spectacle.
I remember calling Cena's surprise return last year, but I don't think Batista (who has torn a hamstring) will do the same.
A lot of people are picking MVP, I respect him as a worker but am not very big on him on a mark-level.
I agree with you Tim, multiple rumble winners suck. Stone Cold didn't need to win it three times and HHH definately doesn't need it any more than the once he has already.
I'm really not sure who I'd pick to win this year actually. But 2008 was great.

The 2008 Rumble was very confusing. Chavo being ECW champ and being in the match, Finlay being DQ'd and the whole "Jeff Harvey" incident too. However Cena's return more than made up for it! I am not a massive Cena fan, but even I marked out for that! What a shocking return!
I wouldn't mind MVP, but he's been buried for the second half of the year due to the incident with the urine tester.
I've heard that people think it will be Jeff Hardy vs The Brian Kendrick for the WWE title, which would be beyond incredible.

We've seen Kendrick/Hardy on free TV all too often already though, Brian even has a clean win or two over the champ.
I'm a big fan of Kendrick, especially now, but - despite his performance in the scramble - I think he needs to wait a while longer before a title feud.
He's also failed like 8 weed tests.
The 2008 rumble was one of my favourites, but it got way too cluttered in there in the third quarter - Big Daddy V, Mark Henry, UMANGA and Taker were all in at the same time with about 8 others.
Piper's pop and the "time-freeze" moment owned hard though.

Haha I loved it when Piper and Snuka were fighting and you can see Punk and Morrison laughing to each other before they begin fighting.
Maybe it will be Jeff vs Kozlov or vs Edge?
I want to know who Cena will end up facing as that will give us a clue as to who will win. I reckon it'll be Orton or Batty at this time. Probably Batista. They could and should have done Orton vs Cena last year (fuck you HHH) so if they didn't want to do it then, they most likely won't do it this time either which leaves us with Cena vs Batty 2 at Mania.
Do you think Jeff will last till Mania with the belt?

I hope so, he's a refreshing change. The fact that HHH doesn't need the title has long since become a moot point, but he will continue to win it until he smashes Flair's record and ensures his own legacy, of that I have no doubt.
He has also become very stale lately, well stale-er.
I'm not following WWE as closely as I'd like as I have no way of watching it unless it's online, which I don't always feel like doing.
I always search for the matches of Kendrick, Evan Bourne, William Regal, Paul Burchill and Jeff Hardy.
I would like to see Regal keep moving up, but in a recent interview with the Sun newspaper he said he would like to focus on making the IC title what it once was.

Lets be honest, HHH will never have a legacy like Flair does. The only one we will have to ever endure is the one WWE shoves down our throats about HHH. I'm hoping MVP's losing streak comes to an end soon. He deserves better than he has been treated. Still I'm going to go for a wildcard, Mr. Kennedy. The guy was supposed to headline WM last year and is about a week off returning to action from what I understand thanks to wrestling sites. Mr Kennedy vs. Cena or even Jeff would be awesome to see.

Kennedy blows. Like Carlito he could have been huge, but dropped the ball again and again. He isn't a great wrestler, but his verbal skills are what made him popular- the same verbal skills that made him look like a right dunce when he blasted Powerslam magazine for their article on drugs in wrestling and saying that it's not a problem in the WWE.....only to be done for doping himself soon after prompting Powerslam to write an EPIC article tearing into him. Oh it was beeeeeeeaaaaaaautiful!
So Cena vs JBL is on the card! And to think that last year JBL was wasting his time carrying a jobber like Y2J at the Rumble. Thank god JBL is now getting the push he deserves.
Yes I have decided that in 2009 every post I write here will be utter bollocks....besides the Kennedy stuff, that really was beautiful. It was beautiful. It was beautiful- it's true. Man that James Blunt can sure write an incredible lyric.

Wtf Woo? Are you high on crack or just life?
I think Kennedy is a good choice, he's got it all. Sure he's done some stupid things, but so to did Orton and now look where he is. Bonafeid main eventer.

Yeah but Orton has talent.
I can't think of a single good match Kennedy ever has had.

But Kennedy is the 'star' in one of their crappy WWE films. Obviously he's in line for a big push.

I think Kennedy’s okay, but way overrated. His face is quite chubby and he looks like a great-auntie is smooshing his cheeks together, and that’s something a main-eventer should not aim for.
I also think his gimmick is a bit stupid, he’s always referred to as brash and a loudmouth, it makes me think he should be in the back of a classroom throwing paper aeroplanes.
Brash, is such a random and out of place adjective to describe a wrestler.
It’d be like calling Kane cumbersome instead of a monster.

lol.
Okay here are the confirmed participants!
1. Triple H (boo!) 2. The Big Show (yay!) 3. Vladimir Kozlov (boo!) 4. Shelton Benjamin (yay!) 5. The Undertaker (yay!) 6. Chris Jericho (yay!) 7. Randy Orton (yay!) 8. Rey Mysterio (boo!) 9. Kofi Kingston (boo!)
So I reckon one of those will end upas the winner. HHH, Y2J and Orton being the favourites. Unless they want to suprise us with a Christian victory!!!
As for who else will be in the match I reckon:
10. CM Punk (yay!) 11. John Morrison (yay!) 12. THE MIZ (yay!) 13. MVP (yay!) 14. THE Brian Kendrick (yay!) 15. Matt Hardy (yay!) 16. Santino (yay!) 17. Cody Rhodes (yay!) 18. Kane (yay!) 19. Great Khali (boo!) 20. Finlay (yay!) 21. Mark Henry (boo!) 22. Jack Swagger (boo!) 23. Carlito (yay!) 24. Primo (boo!) 25. William Regal (yay!) 26. Charlie Haas (yay!) 27. Chavo Gurrero (yay!) 28. Mr. Kennedy (boo!) 29. R-Truth (meh!) 30. Boogyeman (come on, this has GOT to be the year he turns up in the Rumble! It'd be GOLDEN!)
Though Christian will surely make his return here right? Actually, he may just screw Jeff out of the title and help Edge win. That'd make more sense and prevent him returning and losing right away. Gotta say I'm psyched!

Update:
1. Triple H 2. The Big Show 3. Vladimir Kozlov 4. Shelton Benjamin 5. The Undertaker 6. Randy Orton 7. Rey Mysterio 8. Kofi Kingston
are now joined by
9. John Morrison 10. The Miz 11. Ted Dibiase Jr. 12. Cody Rhodes 13. Santino 14. Kane
Now Ted is back somebody from my original prediction has to go, but then Y2J has been kayfabe fired so that balances it out.
Btw I noticed that in the last 3 rumbles Shelton has been eliminated by HBK, looks like he may get lucky this year if Shawn's not in it!
This will be Kane's 11th Rumble in a row an his 13th overall if you include his spells as fake Diesel and Isaac Yankem.

R-Truth (Intresting note- The WWE are saying that this is the first time Ron Killings has been in a Royal Rumble and our trying to pretend that K-Kwick is a different person lol) Also Jack Swagger vs Matt Hardy has been announced as an ECW Championship match. Why not book the title switch for this PPV then? So with them not being in the match it means Chris Jericho and Chris-Tian could both be in it
