From Blabbermouth.net www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=109861Great news for Hague... Seems like the hugely influential funk metal pioneers Faith No More are preparing to reform next year. So, what can we expect? Festivals? Probably. A tour? Possibly. A new album? Now that's the big question, as I believe the band quit too early. Maybe their best (most popular) stuff was made in the eighties, but I reckon they were at their peak of creativity when they decided to jack it all in. A new album from them would be a revelation in my opinion. With Mike Patton bringing in well over a decade of outside influences, a new record would undoubtedly sound like no other FNM album before it. Might be great news for Hague, but it's great news for me also! I almost feel like Woo when he found out Blurb were reforming...

This comes from Kerrang so should be taken with a pinch of salt.
I would love it though.

Although Blabbermouth is equally as unreliable as Kerrang, I hate Kerrang as it does not represent metal, so I chose not to link to Kerrang. I reckon there is a good chance of this happening though. Specially as Patton has seemingly grown slightly warmer to the idea.

Ha ha! I saw FNM with Mosely back in 1987 at a small club in Sheffield. Everybody knew We Care A Lot, but nothing else!

Yeah this is not the "classic" line-up I was hoping for, as they will be without the superb Jim Martin on guitar. It is the line-up which recorded their last album, so I guess they are continuing where they left off, which is a good, and consistent thing.
Cloud, Faith No More are regarded as one of the most unique and influential metal bands of the last twenty years, and recorded some incredible material during their heyday of 1989-1995. I would suggest checking out their 1989 album The Real Thing, the first to feature vocalist Mike Patton. It is a stone cold classic. Also, when you've listened to that, listen to their next albums in chronological order - Angel Dust, King For A Day...Fool For A Lifetime and finally Album Of The Year. They do get progressively slightly worse than the highpoint of The Real Thing, but they are still pretty fucking great albums. OK, maybe not the vastly inappropriately titled final offering "Album Of The Year"...
But don't neglect the first two albums with original singer Chuck Mosely, We Care A Lot and Introduce Yourself. Still wildly original, but just not as instantly memorable except for obviously the title track of their debut, which to this day is one of the most recogniseable metal anthems ever recorded, and is still blasted out in many a nightclub two dozen years after it was first recorded.
I won't be going to Download, as, with the exception of Faith No More, I really don't care for most of the bands announced so far. I hope FNM do a O2 Academy-sized club tour of the UK, where their massive cult status would assure sold out gigs across the country, and attract a whole new fanbase. then maybe a new album for the lads? I hope so.
Enjoy Faith No More Cloud, and anyone else for that matter.

I've got my ticket booked.
FNM are the only band in the world that would make me go to another festival and as it's their only date of 2009 I have to go.
