Mark Out Moments

Okay all of us are 'Smarks' meaning that we are 'smart marks' and thus we read spoilers and usually are critical of the wrestling products rather than sit back and enjoy it like true marks.

But sometimes there are moments so good that you can't help but be like "YEAH!!! AWESOME!" so what are yours? Mine are...

• Mick Foley makes a 6 man HIAC match! This was the moment I got into wrestling and I still think the match was amazing.
  
  
• Eddie G wins the title at No Way Out. A really special night this. Fantastic match and a fairy tale ending.
  
  
• The end to Mania XX. Obviously it's ruined forever now. But it was such an emotional end to what I think is the best Mania ever.
  
  
• Rock vs. Hogan. I don't like Hogan but seeing their match at Mania was an incredible spectacle indeed.
  
  
• The Christian vs Y2J feud. I loved it I was swerved so many times. WHAT! IT WAS ALL A BET?! OMG CHRISTIAN TURNED HEEL! OMG SO DID TRISH! I actually got out of my seat and cheered when Cage pinned Y2J as I thought he would finally be a main eventer. How stupid was I?
  
  
• Edge wins world title. I was speaking to Flyers in the chat while watching Cena retain his title in a gripping EC match, but I was disappointed when Cena retained. Like everyone in the arena I wanted anybody to beat him. Angle, Kane, HBK hell I even wanted Masters to pin him at one point. But Cena retained. Boooo. But then Edge cashed in his contract in one of the biggest shocks ever! Wow!
  
  
• Cena wins the rumble! Another amazing shock. HHH was number 29 and you KNEW who was going to win. Yes there was that mystery person left, but I thought it was Big Show and that he would be a non factor in the match. Hell no! It was the injured Cena who somehow came back early and eliminated HHH. One of the best Rumble moments in history.
  
  
• Shelton pins HHH. This was when Shelton was still a newbie and when HHH NEVER lost. Awesome
  

I'll probably think of more later, but what are you mark out moments?

For me:

- Lesnar vs. Angle at WMXIX
This was a fantastic match, sure Lesnar now has no love for the industry and Angle is on the same degree of crazy as Warrior but I love this match. It is one of my most watched matches. My mark out moment was when Lesnar did the SSP and then went on to win the title. Fantastic imo.

- Orton wins the world title:
Yeah I was watching this live on the otherwise crappy Summerslam 2004. I loved the match between him and The man whose name who shall not be mentioned. Shame they went on to ruin his first title reign as we all know by HHH saying "it wasn't working, give the title to me."

- Punk WINS!!:
Oh yeah, this was going to make the list. I loved this moment. Sometimes I'm still in shock over the fact Punk actually won. The small ROH guy went on to win WWE's biggest prize. Even though people like Steph McMahon and HHH tried to hold him down. It proves being different can pay off.

Many of mine are older than that.
The most recent was probably the famous bump that Mankind took off the top of the cell at KOTR. That was the last really great mark out moment for me.

Others include when Hogan, Hall and Nash turned heel at Bash At The Beach and formed the nWo. I remember laughing hysterically as the ring gradually filled up with debris thrown in by the crowd, such was the heat generated by the heinous act.
I also remember actually thinking at the time that wrestling would never be the same again. And so right I was.

The Sid Vicious battering of the hapless Lee Scott, which I keep going on about.
That was the match that first got me hooked on American wrestling.

When Eddie, Perry, Dean and the other one appeared on Raw. What a coup that was.
They really stuck it to WCW there.

When Shane McMahon appeared on WCW and announced he had bought the company.
I just thought "what the fuck..?". WCW was very shit at the time, but became essential viewing for a while during the Invasion angle. Shame they fucked it all up in the end...

The old ECW gave me the most mark out moments.
I marked massively when Prime Time Brian Lee choke slammed Tommy Dreamer through about a dozen tables (it probably wasn't that many, but it increases every time I remember it...)
When Taz first appeared at the Royal Rumble and made a red-hot Kurt Angle tap out to the kati-hajime. Then when Taz(z) returned to the ECW arena after signing for WWE, and relieved Mike Awesome of his title, bringing it to WWE.

When Ric Flair won the Royal Rumble in 1992 (that year I DO remember!)
Hogan was a shoe-in for the third year running, but spat his dummy out when Sid eliminated him, and helped Ric eliminate Sid.

When Rob Van Dam fought Jerry Lynn in ECW. No particular match, just every time they fought!

When Jake The Snake turned heel and tied Randy Savage up in the ropes and got his cobra (Lucifer?) to bite him on the arm.
I remember seeing very disturbed faces in the crowd and thinking, "Christ, this isn't wrestling". That was kinda the beginning of extreme in WWE.

There's tons more moments but my memory of specific years and events is very hazy, as you probably guessed.
