There are very strong rumours on many websites regarding a possible superfight between Brock Lesnar and UFC Hall Of Famer Randy Couture. According to reports on the Wrestling Observer amongst others www.f4wonline.com/content/view/6570/105/ it's set to take place in November at UFC 91. What a massive fight this would be, even though Couture is 45 years old. Maybe this would be a step too far for the veteran, but you know Randy, he's always full of surprises. Remember last year when he knocked seven shades of shit out of Gabriel Gonzhaga ? Nobody saw that one coming. Pundits are tipping this fight to be the most bet-on fight of all time if it goes ahead. For the record, I would tip Lesnar to win, simply because of his youth, as oppose to Couture's advanced years. And if Lesnar does win, well it opens up all kinds of opportunities. And if he loses, what does that say about The Pain? I reckon Dana White might start thinking he's blown a fortune on a lame duck. Only time will tell, and I expect an announcement soon from UFC.

That would be a must-watch match for sure. I think Brock should have a few more fights before that one though, so that when he loses this at least his win-loss record won't be 1-2. I think he will be destroyed in that match. He may be younger, but Randy has a ton more expiernce and Lesnar is still green.
It would be great fun to watch, but I think Brock will get his ass handed to him.
edit: Okay the match has been confirmed now:
It was confirmed today during a UFC conference call that Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar will be taking place on November 15 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Couture, who is still the reigning UFC Heavyweight Champion despite "resigning" from the UFC last October forcing the company to crown an interim Heavyweight champion in Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, will defend his title against Lesnar in a five round championship fight.
Dunno where that leaves Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, but surely Brock is being rushed to the top?

I'm just glad to hear Couture is taking a break from making straight-to-DVD Scorpion King movies.
I'd take Couture in this fight, just because I take Couture in every fight and he rarely disappoints. I could see Lesnar pulling off the "upset" though (is it still an upset when the champ is 45 years old?).

So is anyone actually watching this tonight? I am watching it. I hope it lives up to expectations, and I think Lesnar will take this within the distance.
The thing I don't get is where does Nogueira stand now? I mean surely if you leave for a year or so, you should relinquish the title and make it vacant. But Randy comes straight back in as reigning champ leaving Nogueira seemingly out in the cold.
Maybe a decision has been made and I missed it, but you gotta feel a bit sorry for the guy. Then again, who wants to be called an "Interim Champion"? I know Georges St. Pierre didn't. Speaking of St. Pierre, it's been confirmed he will face BJ Penn at UFC 94 in the new year. What an awesome fight that will be.
Back to tonight... Come on Brock, show us you're not the donkey people are predicting you will be!

Well if you missed this - sucks to be you I'm afraid. Brock is the new UFC World Heavyweight Champion after knocking out Randy Couture in the second round.
This is not an exact blow-by-blow account of the fight, just how I remember it. Maybe someone could re-watch it and post a more accurate review.
Round one started with Brock getting in a few muay tai knees in, then both men grappled Greco Roman style for about a minute before Brock scored a takedown mid round. After a bout a minute of Brock attempting the mount, Randy managed to get back up to roars from the crowd, only for Brock to get a textbook judo trip to send Randy to the floor again.
Then both men are back on their feet trading blows. Brock's boxing skills are pretty impressive. He has a great guard.
Round two sees Brock's striking skills working again, landing a superb elbow strike early on. Randy then attempts to climb Lesnar's back to submit him. Brock shakes him off but emerges busted near the eye from the clinch. Blows are traded briefly but Brock dominates and follows up with a splendid left-right combo which sends Randy crumpling to the floor.
Brock is upon him immediately, landing ten, no twenty - Christ, almost thirty hammer fists to the side of Couture's unprotected head! All these blows must have landed within like ten seconds. Brock was incredibly fast with his attack. Referee steps in and stops the fight when he realises how many unanswered blows Brock has landed on the champ, and Brock is declared the victor.
Worryingly, Randy stays on the canvas for a short time, but is slowly helped to his feet by his corner and seems OK.
Great show by Brock. Very dominant.
Oh, and I just discovered Nogueira is fighting Frank Mir next month in the eliminator to face the new champ.
Brock v Mir II methinks. Brock needs to rectify that first loss.
So, many congratulations to Brock Lesnar in his victory. Maybe Randy will now retire for good. His vast experience wasn't enough in the end to stave off the obviously very hungry Lesnar.

I didn't get the chance to see it. Sounds like a good show (well, fight at least).
I'm betting Nog will win the fight against Mir for the Interim (read: real) Heavyweight Title. Or at least that's what I hope. Mir comes off as a blowhard on TUF. The part where he claimed that Nog winning the soccer challenge by close margin proved that he (Mir) was the better athlete was absolutely histerical. Also, him being irritated by Kingsbury's GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL yelling to the point where he claimed "I don't care, I know these guys will never be studs" was great too.
The fact that Couture still had the Heavyweight Title is somewhat funny too. It was clearly just a money-making ploy by the UFC to get a better buyrate (because Couture vs. Lesnar is a sexier headliner than Nogueira vs. Lesnar). Not that you can argue against that...It was a huge fight. I just wish Lesnar had to win more than one fight to get to it and Couture wasn't coming straight out of retirement into the title fight.

Mmm maybe I missed the wrong fight as I thought Lesnar was kind lucky, now I admit I dont watch UFC very often so I might miss things you guys see but I thought Couture did an excellent job of slowing the big man down and come the end of the first round Lesnar looked blown up and I believe that had it gone on much longer Lesnar would of faded badly, Although the blow was wicked that took him out im suprised Couture allowed himself or let Lesnar hit him on the temple but maybe Im doing the big man and injustice and he wasnt lucky but meh
