Anybody else been watching the Olympics?
I've been watching it as much as possible and have been loving it. Seeing Michael Phelps win 8 gold medals was an incredible moment that I woke up early to watch. He came so, so, so close to losing that butterfly race though. I still can't believe he pulled that off.
Then there has been the track cycling which is always great fun to watch, especially win GB win 9/12 gold medals medals. Chris Hoy winning 3/3 despite his best event, the 1K Time Trial no longer being in the Olympics for some dumb reason, was fantastic.
And then in the Athletics Usian Bolt proved he is the fastest man alive/ever by winning both the 100m and 200m finals and break the world record in both of them! Wow!!
It's also been a great games for the GB team picking up gold medals in cycling, athletics, rowing, swimming, sailing in addition to medals in gymnastics and canoeing. Plus we still have gold medal hopes in the triple jump, BMX, and the modern pentathlon. GB are up to 3rd on the medal table now (!) and their success makes up for last year where England lost in the rugby world cup final, Louis Hamilton just lost the F1 and England were knocked out of the Euros...before they even began- all in the same weekend!!!
The only problem being that I fear the games will be an embarrassment when it comes to our turn to host them...
