Fox News reports that Hollywood actor Heath Ledger has been found dead in a New York apartment bedroom today. Read the official Fox News story here www.foxnews.com/story/0293332469600.htmlInitial reports are suggesting a drugs overdose, but til the autopsy tomorrow, we won't know for sure. ledger, who is about to star as The Joker in the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight, was only 28 years old and I reckon he was just about to embark on the greatest period of his career. His death will no doubt make the Batman movie EASILY the biggest film of the year. What a depressing and dismal end to a glittering prospect.

I definatly say, Ledger performance as The Joker alone was shaping up to be one of the best, if not the best portrayal of the character to date.
The Dark Knight, if it goes ahead (I guess it still has to be confirmed) will probably be one of the highest grossing films of all time. It'll be fitting for someone like Ledger to go out like this. Looking to be his best screen perfromance yet.
I haven't seen Brokeback Mountain yet, but this will probably make me. I'll always avoided it due to the gay content, which I'm not a big fan of.

I don't know what to say really. Another sad tragic early death for a Hollywood star.
I didn't really know much about him, having not seen Brookeback mountain, but A Night's Tale is a good film and I was looking forward to seeing him in Batman.
We have another River Phoneix now it seems. Shame.

Very unexpected. Seemed like a good talent. I've been looking forward to the Dark Knight for sometime now.
Still, count me out of the Brokeback viewing party.

I dont know what to say.
Ive followed Heath's career for some time now starting with a certain Aussie friend of mine pointing me in the direction of "Two Hands".
Ive been really looking forward to watching the Dark Knight as I was intrigued by the choice of Heath as the Joker.
*Sighs* another senceless waste.

I too was a fan of Heath - I loved brokeback mountain, and he did wonderful in that movie. I read somewhere that he was actually in the middle of filming another movie, so not too sure what will happen there . I feel bad for his daughter though, she's only 2 - she'll probably never remember her daddy.

Never seen Brokeback Mountain - not for any homophobic reasons (he says defensively) - just that I much prefer to watch Ang Lee's movies once all the hype has died down (Crouching Tiger, Hulk, Ice Storm etc.). They had it on Sky Movies last night and when I read the synopsis, they were already billing him as "The Late Heath Ledger. Very very sad situation. I reckon he was one of Hollywood's good guys, sacrificing box office fame and fortune for personal satisfaction and fulfilment. He always aggressively pursued the roles he dearly wanted, in favour of those that would have catapulted him to the "A-List". I find it sadly ironic that his latest big role as The Joker would - and has - done just that. But any decent actor worth his salt would relish the opportunity to add his personal touch to that role. I hope Heath did just that, and I hope he died proud of his contributions to the history of film.
Heath Ledger was one of a rare breed - just shy of mainstream glory, but all the better for it.
Next time Brokeback's on, I'm recording it. I don't care what the bigots at work say about it...
