So here's the scoop on the new Batman Film, The Dark Knight: TrailerA few stills from the film: Official Posters: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm looking forward to this film, Heath Ledger has really seemed to of got the Joker spot on as to how I expected him to portray a closer to the comic version of the character. The whole film so far looks superb, it's even better as they ditched Katie Holmes. July cannot come quick enough for me.

It should be a good year for films what with this and Bond 22 both coming out.
I think the Joker should have green hair though. I know it wouldn't be too scary, but he is just meant to have green hair. I hope he director knows what he is doing by having three villains in one film (Joker, Two Face, Scarecrow) not to mention all the mod goons it could be a bit too much.
Btw what villains would you like to see in a Batman film?
I would like to see Riddler but the director has already said he doesn't think he would work with this new Batman series. I'd also like to see Joker's assistant Harley Quinn in addition to Catwoman in future films assuming Dark Knight lives up to it's huge hype.

He does have green hair, doesn't he?
I, too, would like to see the Riddler or maybe Bane in a Christopher Nolan/Christian Bale film.
And I never want to see Catwoman in this franchise, unless she is killed off in about 10 minutes.

Ooooh, maybe it is green. Looks like dirty blonde to me though.
I like Catwoman a lot. You have to pretend that Halle Berry's portrayal of her.
You like Bane?!! Did you not see Batman & Robin? See you have to ignore the crappy films of the past.
Catwoman rules in Batman Returns, though topping Michelle Phifer (sp?) will be very hard.

Bane isn't as stupid as he is portrayed in Batman & Robin.
I'd also like to see Robin, so that he can get killed by the Joker.

Catwoman isn't as shit as the Berry film either.
I agree with you about the Robin thing though. That happened in the comics right?
They should have Batman vs Two Face with Dent about to win until Batman is saved by Robin. He then says "Hi Batman, I'm Robin" and then getting killed instantly by Joker.

Robin doesn't get killed in the comics, we are left to believe he did but the original Robin came back and is now a enemy of bruce/batman (he was last time a read a batman comic anyway.) Also rumour has it that he little boy Katie Holmes saves in the original is supposed to be Robin, so I don't know how they will explain the time gap if they do introduce him.
The Joker does have green hair in the new film, the idea is that he doesn't keep reapplying his make up and stuff so it appears far more realistic.
I'd love to see Bane portrayed properly in the new Batman series, I think it would be quite interresting to see where they go with him at all.

Oh yeah Robin came back as 'Red Hood' or something dumb. Pah, pretty shit.
Oh so Joker would start off with full make-up and green hair and as the film goes on it will gradually become more and more deteriorated?
Well there are some villains that would never work in the new Batman films- Clayface, Killer Croc, Mr Freeze, Poison Ivy, Ventriloquist and Scarface (though to be fair they never worked in anything) but Bane would work out well.
I was reading about Bane and apparently in the comics he set everyone free from the asylum and after Batman captured them all he was too tired to defend himself against Bane who then broke his back. Now I think that whole plot would make an awesome film. I think Madhatter could possibly work in the new films.

In the classic Frank Miller book, The Dark Night Returns, Robin is a 13 year old girl called Carrie. And Superman is in it also. He gets killed by a sixty year old Batman's Kryptonite arrow.
All these villains you name would give the series a reason to descend into farce, just like Batman Forever and Batman And Robin.
The Dark Night looks and sounds like it will be awesome, but is already treading thin ice by having three villains clogging up the story. Those other two Batman movies proved that more is less, so I'm all for a strong story, strong visuals and strong characters. The more characters there are will ultimately dilute a franchise if it's not controlled properly.
Historically the Batman franchise has been a bandwagon for every aspiring screenwriter, actor etc., and if they are not careful this one will end up in the same bin as the last series. And it doesn't need Robin either.
Remember less is often more.

Well technically there aren't 3 villans playing a major role, this will contain The Joker as the main story and setting up Harvey Dent as two face. It hasn't been confirmed in what capacity he will play either, much like The Scarecrow. For all we know Two Face could appear towards the end of the movie and Batman could just question Scarecrow in a scene or he could just appear in a cell. If anyone knows what they are doing when it comes to a movie it's Christopher Nolan, this is his vision of Batman and by the looks of things he's doing a pretty good job.

I don't know what it means for the Movie, but Today Heath Ledger was found dead in an apartment in New York. cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/01/22/actor-heath-ledger-is-found-dead/I hope they do decide to release the movie, nothing has been confirmed yet but already the internet is is full of rumours that the film won't get a release. I think it would be fitting in Ledger's memory to put this out, it seems as if it'd be his best film role and performance to date. Plus Ledger's portrayal of the Joker seemed spot on to some the comics.

The film will be released. I see no reason why it wouldn't. I don't think they will recast Joker for the future films though out of respect for him, but I think they will definitely release it still.

the only reason not to release it would be if the film somehow played a role in his death, which I am pretty sure it didn't. But even that would hardly stop the release of such a big movie. Look at The Crow. Brandon Lee dide on the set while filming a scene, and it was still released - and to much bigger fanfare than if the tragedy had not occurred.

It turns out The Dark Knight wasn't his last role, he was also due to finish filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus this month. I don't know how they'll go about doing that now. IGN are reporting that when they visted the set of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus on Friday, Ledger was seen laughing and playing jokes on fellow cast and crew members. Which leads me to believe his death was accidental.

BBC new is reporting that he was found in bed surrounded by sleeping pills and thus are coming to the conclusion that it was suicide.
I'm still shocked, and my thoughts are with his little daughter who is only a few months older than my youngest iirc.
