Who's looking forward to the game? I know I am. The only downer on it now is that in Game Informer, Rockstar confirmed no areoplanes as they wanted it more realistic. (In other words no tom, dick or harry can just fly a plane.) However there are Helicopters. Where's the sense in that? Anyway here's the link to the official site for those who haven't seen the trailer or wish to watch it again. www.rockstargames.com/IV

It looks amazing and I may end up buying a PS3 for it, but I do have some reservations.
1. Obviously the first question I asked, and my mum too when I showed her the video was. "are they in-game graphics or the intro video?" I couldn't make out if it was or not.
2. No planes? That's a bit mean. It seems like a backwards step for the series. Maybe they should make planes harder to fly and maybe you need to pass several licences to aquire one.
3. Is that New York, or Liberty City. I hope it's the latter but if it is NY then it could also explain the lack of planes following in the wake of 9/11.
The thing I do like is the main character. San Andreas is one of the few games to have a black main character and now we have a middle easten in the lead. Props to Rockstar.

I can answer.
1.The video shown was in game on the 360, Rockstar have confirmed that neither the PS3 or 360 version will look any different. The 360 has exclusive content that the PS3 will not have.
2. The game is set in Liberty City, 2007. The plan is to have a new modern take on the city, while not as big as San Andreas there is supposed to be alot of stuff around it that wasn't there before. It's also a closer take on NY this time around.

So the video was in-game graphics?

2. No planes? That's a bit mean. It seems like a backwards step for the series. Maybe they should make planes harder to fly and maybe you need to pass several licences to aquire one. You had to do that in San Andreas did you not? It is definitely a step back, having no planes. Maybe they just could not be arsed to put any in, in order to get the game out earlier. I hope that their excuse that they wanted to make it more realistic, means they will include animals, children and obnoxious teenagers who stand around outside shops for hours on end asking adults to buy them cheap cider... I'm still gonna buy it when it comes out though, just as soon as I finish Liberty & Vice City Stories.

You upgraded to Next Gen then Metal? It's 360 and PS3 only.
As for the pedestrians, Rockstar have said they'll react more to what you'll do, for instance draw a gun. They'll all run off in fear.

Not upgraded yet. But more or less as soon as GTA IV comes out I will invest. Am I right in assuming PS2 games play on PS3? And if so, does it smooth out the rough edges like the PS2 did with PS1?

No Metal. Over here most PS2 games will not only not look smoother, but most will either not play or play with bugs. Apprently to make it easier to mass produce they removed the emotion engine, which plays PS2 games, from PAL consoles. Though that didn't stop the Sony twats from charging us more. Also some PSone games won't even play, such as Castlevania SOTN, a game that along with FFVII and MGS is widely argued to be the best on the console.
In short Metal, do not trade in your PS2 if you intend on playing or your games without having to pay for them again and download them.

Life does indeed imitate art. I just saw an advert on TV for the new Jeep PATRIOT. This made me laugh, and got me thinking about saving up for the real life versions of the SANCHEZ, the Yakuza STINGER and the Maibatsu MONSTROSITY.

Looks like you have more time to upgrade Metal, GTA IV has been delayed until Q2 next year, so that means it's going to be out by April at the earliest. Article about it here

GTA has been given a worldwide release date of 29th of April. I found a bit more out about the planes too, the reason why none are in the game is because there is only one city. Rockstar found it pointless to have planes for one city if you are going to land where you started on on a highway, a fully working airport will be in which makes me wonder if for one mission you travel to a different city. Helicopters are in the game and you will be able to fly them. More on GTA IV here.

At least there's copters. They are ideal for lazy bums like moi, who find traffic and police a real drag. Plus they are ideal getaway vehicles after you've just massacred a bunch of gun toting crackheads.
Any news on whether newer versions of the console will play PS2 games?
