WWE Survivor Series 2007: On Sky Box Office in the UKOfficial Card:: WWE Championship: Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm kinda looking forward to this years Survivor Series, I don't know why. Maybe it's due to all the mystery behind Jericho debuting somepoint or due to the fact Edge is supposed to be returning at this event.

This was always my favourite of the PPVs. Somehow, this year there is no excitement for me. No contemplating my dream teams as I once did. Basically I have no interest in WWE anymore.
It's a real shame too, because it's not me who's changed for the worse... I could almost deal with it if I had grown out of it, but at 37 years old, I reckon if I was gonna grow out of it, it would have been twenty years ago.
Survivor Series, historically has given us many memorable surprises, not least of which was The Undertaker's debut 17 years ago. Many people say that is always what people mention when they talk about Survivor Series, but it does stand as one of the biggest impacts in professional wrestling. Not the performance itself, which was short-lived and clumsy, but for the sheer influence and shape The Undertaker has given the business, it was a moment that I'll never forget.
When they decided to return to the traditional team-based elimination bouts, it was definitely a step in the right direction, and allowed us to see what might happen when two, three or more often four combustible elements were placed together. There surely were plenty of fireworks.
But sadly, the whole company has seemingly entered a deep and impenetrable sleep, only interrupted by the occasional brain-fart (bastard child, Hornswoggle, faked deaths, fake marriages... more faked deaths...) It really is a sad state of affairs when the rumormill is infinitely more interesting than the TV they produce.
If Survivor Series were not on Sky Box Office costing 15 quid, I would definitely stay up and watch it, as I did with Cyber Sunday (I still regret it) but thanks to recent bog-standard production values, it cannot be justified this year.
The daft thing is, the best thing about watching wrestling is the surprises. The big names returning. The big names debuting. The unknown entities invading. But today with tumbling ratings and withering buy-rates, the necessity is that the big names have to be advertised in advance to ensure bigger viewing figures. Good business sense for sure, but bad creative sense on the other hand.
It leaves me with a sense of anticlimax every time.

I am not a big fan of the traditional survivor series matches, at least not for the main event. Most of them aren't very good matches and very forgettable. I can remember all the main events and a lot of the other matches from 94-2002 but since they brought back the SSeries matches most of them are very hard to remember. The only real one that stands out to me was the excellent Team Austin vs Team Bischoff (how hillaroius is it that Batista retired Austin in this match yet none of them remembered at Cyber Sunday?
I am not against the matches at all but prefer the main events to be a big 1 on 1 match. This years PPV sounds great if Edge and Y2J return but sadly the main event looks poor imo, due to Orton being in it.

Well this is the current card:
WWE Championship Match - Randy Orton (c) vs. Shawn Michaels.
World Heavyweight Championship - Hell in a Cell Match - Batista (c) vs. The Undertaker.
ECW Championship - Triple Threat Match - CM Punk (c) vs. John Morrison vs. The Miz.
Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match - Triple H, WWE Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy, WWE Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy, Rey Mysterio & Kane vs. Umaga, Mr. Kennedy, WWE U.S./Tag Team Champion MVP, Finlay & Big Daddy V.
- Hornswoggle vs. The Great Khali. -----------
This card doesn't look too bad you know. Orton vs HBK should be a pretty good match, Batty and Taker work well together and should be a brutal bloodfest, Punk/Nitro/Miz could be decent too and the Tradional SSeries features the best in the WWE- and Big Daddy V. Hopefully Hornswoggle/Khali will be a 3 minutes match but that would be 3 minutes too long. How Hornswoggle is going to carry Kahli to a decent match is beyond me. Why not put Khali into the 5 on 5 match just to hide his weaknesses a bit?
Hopefully they will add a match featuring Londrick and TWGTT and then I might actually order this PPV.
