Wrestling lost another legend today, when "Macho Man" Randy Savage apparently suffered a heart attack at the wheel of his car, and was killed in the resulting crash. Savage was possibly second only Hogan in glory days of the WWF, becoming a megastar in the late 80's following that all-time six-star classic IC title match with Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania III. It's hard to say whether Savage would have survived the heart attack had he not been driving, but for many years I feared he would fall victim to the roid legacy, as many before him had - Guererro, Rude, Hennig...- but I will sure miss Savage. Surely his long overdue Hall Of Fame induction is now only ten months away. Ten months too late in this fan's opinion. Rest in peace Mr. Poffo.

Savage was THE MAN to me as a kid, along with the Ultimate Warrior, even though back then I mostly picked my favorite wrestlers by how colorful their pants were. Even so, looking back at his clips on youtube, he never disappoints.
He's not in the WWE Hall of Fame yet? Drew Carey's in the fucking Hall of Fame but not the second most popular wrestler in the world in the 1980s? It's amazing how much politics take a part in that. Given the frequent and often premature deaths of performers in the industry, it's a shame that WWE can't make amends with many of their legends before it's too late. I'd really like to see WWE improve on this in the future (although I'm sure it won't begin with Warrior, because he's proven himself to be batshit crazy on many occasions).
RIP Macho Man.
