Former WWE and WCW freak The Giant Gonzales has died in Argentina. This came as a massive shock to me, because I honestly thought he'd died about 15 years ago! Anyway, rest in peace to the giant man, even though he was amongst the shittest people ever to run the ropes.

I, too, thought he was already dead.
It really shows the sad state of affairs that the wrestling world is in when you automatically assume a retired wrestler is dead.

This has been a long time coming. He's been in a wheelchair for several years due to a height related decline in health. I'm pretty sure he's been on dialysis for quite some time too.
So... what have we learned...
I don't watch wrestling at all... but have kept up to date with the life and times of Giant Gonzalez.
Has anyone else in the world done this?! ANY ONE?!!!

No. I thought I had kept up to date with his death, but evidently not. Another one who died recently, really is a massive shock to me. Trent Acid, former ROH and CZW regular whose tag team The Backseat Boys were one of the hottest young teams on the indie scene. Apparently he had issues with hard drug use in his past, so this one we should have seen coming, but nonetheless a huge shock to me to learn of his death. I think if was only in his mid 20s. What a waste.

ESPN sportswriter Bill Simmons made a rather compelling parallel some months back between Pro Wrestling and Porn Stars. Pay-per-view. Surgically and narcotically enhanced bodies. Bad acting. Terrible music. Tight lycra clothing. Substance abuse. Troubled personal lives. Jobbing. Loose Scripts. But most poignantly... premature deaths.
Seems relevant while I'm drunk.
