Okay first of all before you all yell at me for not including The Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy etc I took the decision of removing the cartoon shows from my list. Only The Simpsons would make my top 10 anyway, but to avoid the animated shows taken up 50% of everybody's lists I say we just omit them.
Anyway...
15. Moonlighting
And I am sure I am going to annoy people right away, but omitting the Simpsons and including this. It may not be a traditional sitcom, but I think it's fair game to be included. Bruce Willis shows the world the star he would be here. The romantic subplots tend to drag the show down bit, but Willis is always on top form.
14. Kenan and Kel
"Who loves orange soda? I love orange soda! I do, I do, I do do dooooo!" It may not be the cleverest sitcom in the world, but it brings back great childhood memories for me and I am sure many others too. I don't know how big this was in the States, but it was pretty huge over here for a while.
13. King of Queens
Not the most popular one over here. For some reason it was never shown on primetime TV and was only really shown early mornings on Channel 4. It doesn't make me ROFL laughing like some others, but is still funny.
12. How I Met Your Mother
Another show that isn't on very much here. However it has developed somewhat of a cult following and would be higher up my list had I seen more of it.
11. Big Bang Theory
Another good new sitcom, but again one I haven't seen that much of.
10. Cheers
Sometimes you want to go, where everybody knows your name... a timeless classic.
9. Scrubs
I think it may be overrated and may have gone on a bit too long, but it was brilliant more often than not and Dr. Cox is a fantastic comic character.
8. Arrested Development
How this program ever got cancelled is beyond me. It was so funny. I mean come-on! I think they made a big mistake...
7. Fraiser
How could Fraiser not make the list? It was so cleverly written and the cast were perfect.
6. Will & Grace
Forget Will and Grace, this is all about Jack & Karen! Two of the funniest characters on TV and Karen has some of the best put-downs this side of Dr. Cox.
5. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Now this program was HUGE over here in Blighty. It was literally on every single Friday for years on BBC 2 and I think most people of a certain age can recite the theme tune word by word. And who doesn't do the "Carlton dance" whenever 'It's Not Unusual' comes on at a party?
4. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
My favourite US sitcom that is still going, thanks to Steala getting me hooked onto it. Amazing how a show featuring five of the most horrible human beings ever put on screen can be so endearing, but it is. Green Man has become something of a internet meme. Btw Steala Charlie Day hosted Raw this week!
3. Everybody Loves Raymond
How I love this program! Despite being a huge hit on the States this was never shown on primetime TV over here I don't think. At least not on a major channel anyway. I first discovered while getting ready for school or college on early mornings on Channel 4 and it was always worth waking up for! The family dynamic and their feuds are hilarious.
2. Malcolm In The Middle
I'm sure some expected to see Seinfeld here, but that doesn't make my list.... Malcolm In The Middle stars just about my favourite TV family. They are so funny, entertaining and down-right crazy that you don't even notice that they don't have last names.
1. Friends
No surprise here. Friends wasn't just a sitcom, it was a worldwide phenomenon. I can't put into words just how much I adore each and every episode of this program. There isn't a day that goes by where me or my mates don't find a Friends quote to sum up a certain situation and it's STILL shown twice daily on E4, so these friends can be there for you again and again...
Anyway...
