Your Favorite Fueds

Okay talking about the Jake/Roberts feud in the other thread has got me thinking about my favorite feuds ever and I decided to put together a top 10 list.

10. Bret vs Bulldog- 92 & 95
A real simple storyline that worked well. Bret was IC champ and faces his brother-in-law for the belt, while his sister is torn between her husband and her family. They did it again in late 95, this time with Bulldog heel and the world title on the line and it still worked well. Also the matches were great with the Summerslam one in England being a truly great moment.

9. Kurt Angle vs Edge- 02
It's in my top 10 because it was just really funny. It had Kurt look at old pictures of him and E&C while on the back it says stuff like "I have no testicles". Then Edge replaced Kurt's shirt he was promoting with one that read "I suck" and then he shaved him bald at Judgement Day. Fun times, anyone who says Edge can't play face needs to revisit this feud.

8. The Hardy Boyz vs The Dudley Boyz vs Edge & Christian- 99-03
Not sure if this was really feud or just lots of great matches, but I'll leave it here as the matches were phenomenal. Ladders, Cages and of course TLC matches. This was a great tag division and it makes me sad that the WWE doesn't have one now. I wish last year they would have given us The Hardyz vs TWGTT vs MNM vs London & Kendrick in a ladder match. They nearly did, but had Regal and Taylor in it instead, pah. My only complaint about this feud is that they never involved 2 Cool in any of their gimmick matches, a big waste.

7. Rock vs Austin- 01
Well these two were feuding for years, but I loved the build-up to the Mania match. The match itself was a classic and I still think it was the best PPV ever.

6. Bret Hart vs The USA- 97
It started with the sublime feud with Austin leading into Mania and featuring the famous double turn, but afterwards Bret slated the American fans and formed one of the greatest stables ever- the Hart Foundation. I loved the way they were all heels in the USA and faces in Canada & The UK. It also meant that they actually came to the UK and gave us a PPV- One Night Only after which they gave two PPV's a year afterwards result! Though admittedly every English PPV afterwards blew.

5. Angle vs HBK- 05
It's only here for two reasons. 1- The Angle vs Jannetty match which was great fun and 2.- Kurt and Sensational Sherri singing "I'm just a sexy Kurt" "Sexy Kurt". It still makes me laugh lol.

4. Bret vs Owen- 03-04
It was built up really well. The turn at the Rumble was very memorable and the match at Mania imo is better than the HBK/Razor match that gets all the credit. Also Owen won! The SSlam rematch was even better and I think it's the best SS match ever.

3. Foley vs Orton- 03-04
I'm sure you all remember this feud well, so there isn't much I can add except that Foley is the best promo guy ever imo and he delivered some great ones here. The promo he did to Orton when they were in the ring and Foley told him to spit on his face again was great. I loved it when Mick kept punching his own face and Randy was looking at him like "you crazy psycho!".

2. Savage vs Roberts- 91
So here it is. It had a Savage, Jake and a cobra, what's not to like?

1. HHH vs Austin- 01
Austin and HHH had been at each others throats for months so Vince signs the NWO match between the two. BUT they can't lay a single finger on the other before the PPV or get suspended. An amazingly simple and very effective with both guys trying to one-up the other without physical contact. Also they pay-off at NWO was made all the sweeter by the zero tolerance rule when they finally were able to fight.

I don't have a top ten, suprised huh?

But one of my favourite fueds would be Lesnar and Angle thoughout the end of 02 and the whole of 03. It was really well done in my opinion. My other favourite as short lived as it was, what two months? is Taker vs. Lesnar at Unforgiven 2002. The HIAC match between the two was awesome.

I thought Taker was really good in 2002, the only time I have liked him and it was amazing how he went from being terrible the year before to one of the best guys in the whole company in 2002. That being said, I preferred him as the badass heel out for respect.

The feud with Lesnar was good, it really did help Brock get over as a credible main eventer. SD was so good back then with the likes of Angle, Rey, Edge, Benoit, Chavo, Eddie Matt Hardy Version 1 and the other crusierweights like Noble, Hurricane, Kidman and Tajari. Great times.

Brock's feud with Angle was good, but I missed most of 2003 as I got bored with the WWE in general. No idea why though as SD was still great TV, maybe HHH just pissed me off too much and Brock wasn't the most entertaining champ ever. My favorite Brock feud though was his two month one with RVD. They had great chemistry together and it made for good matches.

I think Batista/HHH was handled very well leading up to Mania 21. I liked the way Batista's face turn was done very slowly and wasn't rushed unlike Orton's. The matches never delivered imo though.

Other ones I liked- Angle vs Austin- To think that this feud for the WWF title started with them both wearing cowboy hats and playing guitars is hilarious.

Y2J vs Rock in 2001. They always worked well together and sure can promo. I thought their No Mercy match was superb and made all the better due to Y2J's win. Shame Steph nearly ruined it all by getting involved.

More recently Cena vs Edge was great and Orton vs Jeff has been booked stellar, but it will probably only be a 1 month deal.
