Wil they win a world title in 08?

I saw someone else write about the chances of several rising starts in the WWE/TNA winning a world title and I thought I'd recreate the thread here. Simply copy the list of names and say if you think they have a chance of winning a world title this year and becoming break out stars.

Here are my thoughts:

Jeff Hardy; I actually think think that Jeff will become a world champ in 2008. Not at the Rumble, but sometime after the Summer just as long as he stays healthy and out of trouble.

Matt Hady; While I think he is the most talented of the two I don't think he will ever win a world title. Unless he turns heel again (fingers crossed for Mattitude to return). I think he will get world title matchs though and maybe even PPV title matches.

Ken Kennedy; God I hope not. He was really screwed himself over this year and I don't think they will give him the belt this year now as he isn't at all relaible. If he was a good year though and stays out of trouble he may be champ in 2009. Sadly.

MVP; I think he might, just as long as he stays on SD. He's the 2nd best heel on SD right now and will probably be in line for a title shot in the Summer months. But I think he will be moved to Raw and end up like Carlito.

Umaga; I'd like to see it. He's awesome. Move him to SD or ECW and let him wreck havoc. Don't think it will happen though.

Shelton Benjamin; Yes. If you count the ECW title anyway. He will beat Punk at Mania in a great match and then go on a lengthy title regin.....hopefully....

Finlay; No. But again I'd like to see it happen.

Somoa Joe; Yes! 100% yes! They have to give him the title this year or I'm going to riot.

Kaz; Hopefully his main event push hasn't ended already, but at the moment he is feuded with the usless Goldust and I think he will end up in the jobber-mid card role that all X-Division guys end up in. Bar AJ.

Robert Roode; Ugh, let's hope not.

AJ Styles; Yes. I think, hope, that he will. I'd love to see him turn face again and feud Angle and take the gold from him later in the year.

Christian Cage; Probably.

Chris Jericho; Not on Raw he won't. On SD I think he might, but I still can't see it unless everyone gets injured.

Abyss; Nah. His main event days are a thing of the past now they have Angle and Booker and Sting they don't need the TNA guys anymore.

Ric Flair; Nope. I think he will retire at Mania this year.

Jeff Hardy; Yeah and I can see it happening maybe at Judgement Day or GAB. I think it would be great in all honesty, Jeff deserves a run and he's proved he can hang up the top of the card many times before. Ladder match with Taker anyone?

Matt Hardy; Maybe, it all depends if he can get the intrest back in his fued with MVP really. Although if Jeff wins the WWE Title, it'd be cool for Matt to win the World Title on the same PPV.

Ken Kennedy;: I'll admit it, I used to like Kennedy. That was before he got lazy in the ring and then claimed he never took steroids only to bugger up the biggest push of his careeer. I see him winning the Title this year, although it could be on Smackdown.

MVP; Yes, yes yes. This guy's future is bright and I think most of the WWE know it. He's a great in ring performer, I'm hoping they leave it till the end of the year though.

Umaga; Nope, Umaga is a Heel for one reason, to destroy people and more or less stay away from meaningful fueds. Shame though, if they moved him to SD ro ECW then yes, but word is that Vince is high on this guy and he'll be on Raw for a while.

Shelton Benjamin; Yep, Shelton will get the ECW World title at some point, although I doubt it'll be at Mania or before. I'm expecting them to keep the strap on CM Punk til Backlash then give it to Shelton to move CM Punk over to another brand seeming as he's been on the "training" brand for nearly 2 years...

Finlay; Now he's face yes. Although I think it'll be a bit like Eddie regin, more of a reward for service.

Samoa Joe; I'm with you on this Woo, he needs the strap in TNA and they just keep dropping the ball. all the while Angle and Nash are there to rule, don't expect Joe to get it. It's WCW all over again.

Kaz; See Above

Robert Roode; This is the opposite to Joe, if he does then I'll riot.

AJ Styles; Hopefully he will, but again he is being held down by being with Angle

Christian Cage; Yeah, probably at AAO I reckon too. I think Tomko could help.

Chris Jericho; Nope, I think WWE have already blown this one.

Abyss; Nope, again it's TNA.

Ric Flair;: Hopefully not, as much as I love Flair he doesn't need another title run. He'll go out at WM being a sixteen time world champion.

I'm adding one:

Rey Mysterio; Possibly, depends on what happens on Smackdown between now and the end of the year. He's like the go to guy, although if there is another draft as rumored then I expect him to go to Raw and be shat all over.

Rey Mysterio; Well it depends on wheather Taker retires at Mania this yeah and I can't see that happening. He is No.3 face at the moment so unless Taker and/or Batty get drafted to Raw, retire or get injured I can't see Rey Rey with the world strap. As for him going to be on Raw and be shat on, I don't think it's possible for Rey to be treated like that as the fans will always be behind him and he will forever be super over.

Well we clearly forgot about Chavo Guerrero...by the way if anybody hasn't seen is ECW victory celebration then you must check it out, it was great.

I also wanted to know if anyone thinks Carlito will become a world champion. Not just this year, but ever. Seeing him in the rumble reminded me of how cool he is and I love his backsnapper finisher. I don't think will become champ any time soon, but maybe in 3 years time or so if he stays with the WWE, which I doubt.

Also I think Elijah Burke is pretty good and could see him winning the ECW belt soon. It's funny how ECW seem to have all the best guys on their roster, Punk, Chavo, Morrison, Miz, Shelton, Elijah and that new Kofi Kingston guy looks impressive at the moment too.

Lol the title celebration is quite cool.

I think Chavo holding the ECW title isn't a good idea, clearly the strap is below the level of the IC and US titles. I think giving him the US title on Smackdown would of been a better idea. ECW is obviously the development brand of WWE, which is why they probably have the best guys. Although I think you can add Miz to the faces you'd like to punch Woo. I think it's about time they moved CM Punk away from ECW, maybe add him full time to the Smackdown roster. He quite fits in there. I know they share with rosters with ECW, but being moved to the Smackdown one would be a move up imo. Hopefully there will be a draft this year.

Carlito being World Champ? Not all the while he is on Raw. Move him back to Smackdown and give him a proper push as a heel and yeah, I could see him winning the World Title. Not this year though, build him up slowly and maybe the middle of '09.

I think Punk is doing fine on ECW at the moment, at least until Mania. I think at Mania they should do Chavo vs Punk vs Rey vs Shelton for the title. Then maybe put the belt on Shelton and let him feud with the other two and then move Punk to SD. There's no point him leaving until the big PPV is over imo.

I think the talent is split very well at the moment. Raw needs to lose a few guys like JBL, Y2J and HBK though imo.

Jeff Hardy should be champion at some point this year, but its like they never see it, they never want him to win, its the same old guy, taker or batista, edge, some one else, but why cause their stingy and they don't wanna expand.

Benjamin should be ecw champ even tho the show stinks, but the gold standard fits it all. Benjamin is underated he never gets anything.

Ken Kennedy is well deserving hes a good heel or whatever he is, his gimmick is flat out crazy and he should be champ for a few months.

I hate Ken Kennedy. I find him dull and boring with an ugly face. Also he didn't do himself any favours last year by going out saying that nobody in the WWE was on drugs, only to be caught out himself and humiliated a few months later.

Well Shelton is my favorite wrestler in the WWE by far now after the events of last year because everything he does in that ring just looks perfect. He's WWE's version of AJ Styles. His one weakness has always been his mic skill and bringing in his "mama" certainly didn't help. I think they should just market him as the underdog babyface and have him feud against guys like Umaga, Edge, HHH and Kane (I know he is feuding with Kane now but they should switch alignments). I think the chances are good that he will be ECW Champion, but whether that still counts as a world title is anybody's guess.

As for Jeff, baring any no-shows or drug stings, he will be champion for sure before the next Wrestlemania. The Money in the Bank match this year is all about him and if he doesn't win there will be hell to pay!
