Cannot believe that!
Shelton was a world champion waiting to happen. Ultra professional, fantastic in the ring and just an all round brilliant talent. TNA have to snap him up, he'd be a huge signing for them.
Mickie too! She was my favourite Diva of the lot.....but that isnt saying much, because the Diva's division didn't really interest me. But Mickie was always worth watching, starting with her psycho heel days against Trish through to her underdog like matches against Beth Phoenix.
It's almost as if WWE wants TNA to compete against them: "Here, take some of our better talent and make them stars like we wouldn't!"
Good luck to them, and the others who were released. But I'm especially intrigued to see Shelton in TNA and what they would do with him.

Wow, 3 of the 4 guys were ethnic minorities, and the fourth pretended he was. Talk about racially motivated sackings. Fuck WWE!

I will miss the annual WrestleMania tradition of Shelton Benjamin losing in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Perhaps we'll see him stepping into that wheelchair-accessible TNA ring shortly. Same with Yang.
Funaki had two title runs in his illustrious 12-year career in WWE (Cruiserweight and Hardcore). He lost the Hardcore Title in the same match as he won it. Incredible.
One of my fondest memories of Funaki is when he held salami for his Kaientai manager to chop as the manager berated Val Venis and told him, "I choppy choppy your pee pee!" Truly legendary stuff.

Forget Mickie James and Shelton, the biggest loss here is Katie Lea. Katie is, or was when she signed for the WWE, one of the best female wrestlers in the world and I honestly can't remember her wrestling at all in the WWE. Like Burchill she seemed to be punished for their incest storyline not panning out. Out of all the people cut that TNA could sign, she would perhaps be the best. The TNA women's division has fallen apart after losing it's two most talented women and Nikita would be a great addition to it as well as a potential valet for The Invasion or Wolfe.
However I reckon TNA would rather sign up Mickie James. They have seemed to have had it in for her for a couple of years now despite her being their most popular female. The only one who really came close was Maria and she's gone too now. She did botch a lot, but not as much as Melina, but her axing was very harsh I feel.
As for Shelton, well he has my favourite wrestler in the WWE in years now and he could do better than what he's been doing. He was only kept in the WWE for one reason- Money in the Bank. Now with the participants in that match being increased from the original 6 to 10 it doesn't really allow any one person to shine and this year while Shelton's performance wasn't memorable Kofi Kingston filled in the void of athletic black guy. So there was no real need for him and like other people like Morrison, Kofi and MVP it's obvious that they didn't want to try and give him that main event push. I'm not fussed by this because Shelton can do much better than what he was doing (when I saw Raw in 2007 I had seats very close to the ring and shouted at Shelton to go to TNA....though he just glared at me at the time!) Hopefully now I can get to see that AJ/Shelton match I've dreamed of.
As for Funaki, well who doesn't love that guy? Not only for his comical tag team, or his Kung Fu Naki gimmick or his hilarious role as "Smackdown's No.1 Announcer!", something thing I copied in the fed, but you have to love the fact that despite being less talented than TAKA he managed to keep his job for a whole 12 years!
Jimmy Wang Yang is no surprise. What's the point keeping him when there is no CW or tag team divisions? He's a great talent however and hopefully he'll get a gig in ROH or PWU or something.
Mike Knox...well there are better big men out there.
Jessie....well who didn't see this coming?
Honestly the only one I am surprised at is Mickie James. The obvious are mostly a shame, but understandable. Hopefully Wang, Funaki do well in whatever they do while Katie Lea can return to Shimmer (fuck yes!) while Shelton Benjamin via Money in the Bank leaves behind a great WWE career that includes him perhaps being one of the ten best Wrestlemania performers ever.

I actually saw Jimmy Wang Yang on Smackdown the other week, and was amazed that he was still with WWE, given the talent that had been let go in the past few months. Seems my thoughts are cursed. As for Funaki, who could really complain after a career which has lasted since the Attitude Era. Very few guys have lasted that long in WWE. Thing is, now you gotta worry for the likes of Kozlov, Jackson, Dreamer, Ryder, Ortiz and others who appear to have been lost in the shuffle since ECW was canned. And to a lesser extent, other small-frys like Chavo, Primo and Santino, although I reckon Santino kinda fills the spot left behind by Funaki, so there may still be a lotta years of comedy relief from him.

Thing is, now you gotta worry for the likes of Kozlov, Jackson, Dreamer, Ryder, Ortiz and others who appear to have been lost in the shuffle since ECW was canned. Dreamer has gone. His WWE contract expired and he walked away. Jackson was hyped on Smackdown and then injured himself on a house show, he's out for a few months now. Kozlov appeared in that "beat down" of John Cena before WM. Ryder often appears on Superstars (fun for him, at least he's still getting TV time) and as for Ortiz, fuck knows.

I thought Ortiz was let go ages ago?
*Googles*
August 2009 to be correct.
Also yeah Dreamer is gone, but he had one of the best farewell speeches ever and really left on a high.
Say what you will about the WWE but they gave him an outstanding exit not only with that farewell but by giving him the ECW title one final time.
I think Santino will be alright for now, although it wouldn't be too shocking if he were cut within the next couple of years. He hasn't been allowed to wrestler, but the man is a riot.
Ryder and the new Ahmed Johnson (Jackson) I reckon will also be alright, but if I was Koslov I would be worried. Also The Bella Twins and Curt Hawkings probably can't believe their luck.
