For those like me who missed this.
A fantastic moment. The mention of Bret Hart really stired an emotion with me. Such a classy way to leave.

I'll admit this had me teary-eyed.
Shawn Michaels is, for me, the best in-ring wrestler of my generation and it seemed like a real genuine, real speech......so if he is retiring, he couldn't have done it any better.
I just hope he doesn't tarnish this moment and come back in 2 years and wrestle again, ala Ric Flair. But I can't see that happening, HBK is financially set up for life and has a family to look after now.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, "The Heart Break Kid" Shawn Michaels has left the building."
A real classy speech, and a genuine tear-jerker. Thank You Shawn, you were The Man.

I really liked this way of bowing out.
As people know on here, I'm not HBK's biggest fan. But I have really enjoyed the way the build up to the WM match with Taker was done and how the part of him leaving was handled on Raw. I thought it was extremely clever on how they played on the part of Shawn knowing Mania could be his last match in the build up.
I'm glad he decided to go now instead of hanging around ala Flair or Hogan. It's best for an older wrestler to bow out gracefully.

I liked it. I found it sincere, unscripted and genuine.
I don't think we'll see Shawn back in the ring ever again. I think he realises he has had a great final run after everyone wrote him off years ago, and has decided to bow out gracefully to cement his legend.
I also reckon he will be in next year's Hall Of Fame, and part of the deal was that he won't be inducted until he officially retires. I think this will have been on Shawn's terms too, such is his integrity.
I also can't believe I missed this thread initially, and it's taken me all this time to reply...
