For the record, I have not watched wwe since July. I've been on a tight schedule lately, and with it being on so many days, and so many ppv's during the year, I would never keep up. So I've stopped watching. Occasionally, I'll go on wwe.com just to check out what’s happening. Recently, I had to type and English report and just got so bored with it I turned around and looked at my wwe dvds. I looked through the 2004 ppvs cards and realized that 2004 wasn't that bad of a year.

tbh, I remember how much I enjoyed that year. I thought the ppvs were very decent. I thought HHH vs. HBK was a good, lengthy match, and the rumble it's self was very good. No Way out had a bad main event but a memorable one as Eddie won the title that night.

The mid card wasn't too bad. Kurt Angle vs. Cena vs. Big Show was very enjoyable.

I believe Cena was the best as a mid carder. It really made those mid card matches mean something, since he was so over.

WmXX speaks for itself, a 5 hour event with some amazing matches, returns, and a proper good bye tribute to Goldberg and Lesnar. I'm glad that match blew and the fans booed them. Goldberg was horrible in the wwe and Lesnar just quit out of nowhere.

Backlash had a rematch of an amazing wmXX match that was no where near as good, but it was ok.

Backlash did however have that amazing Orton vs. Foley match which I consider to be Orton's best match. They really both went all out there.

JD while poor, and JBL in the main event at the time was horrible, that match did have that crazy miss cut by Eddie which was really hard to watch. I thought the crowd reaction was amazing, how shocked they were when they first saw Eddie bleeding so badly.

Bad Blood wasn't that great but again, HHH vs. HBK was a good hell in a cell. I thought wwe played that ppv well by not making the title match part of the HIAC but just another match on that card; something they have not done since JD 2002.

GAB I would say ended the run for decent ppvs in 04. The whole ppv I thought was a joke. I did enjoy the Cena vs. Booker Vs. RVD vs. Dupree us title match, but that was it.

Vengeance had a great IC match between Orton and Edge as well as an ok Benoit vs. HHH match.

I enjoyed the entire summer slam event. While it had some bad spots here and there it was a good ppv. I enjoyed Edge vs. Batista vs. Y2J very much. Whenever eddie and angle wrestle you know it's a classic and this one wasn't a let down. booker T vs. Cena was ok and the two main events were decent. The JBL vs. Taker match was bad but the ending was enjoyable. The Orton vs. Benoit match was very good, and a great way to end the event.

I can't remember much of unforgiven so it must've not been that very good.

I enjoyed the NM main event. It was a very brutal fight, and of course we all know JBL can't wrestle but this was a very good hard core match. I think it was a last ride match or something.

Taboo Tuesday was very good. I enjoyed the cage match very much; I thought both Flair and Orton did well.

I'd like to forget survivor series, mainly seeing Maven in the main event, and adding on to the fact that the match was meaningless ruined the ppv.

And of course Armageddon had a great fatal four was main event,

I liked this year for the sole fact that both Raw and Smack Down were watchabal. Bother had an equal share of stars which made it equally balanced.

I thought towards the end of the year it started to become bad and it was the start of what wwe is today, horrible.

So yeah, I believe 2004 was a year people kind of forget and jump the gun to say it was bad, but I don't think that at all.

Um yeah, I don't know the point of this topic, I was just bored....

2004 was a good year, but JBL winning the title ruined it for me.

As for Cena being a good midcarder, he's good as a main eventer but there is only the one thing that fails him and it's not his wrestling ability. It's the fact he's a face.

I know Cena is huge with the women and children, the latter being WWE's biggest audience but Cena as a heel was where he shined as a star and I think that's half the reason why he is where he is inside WWE today. All they need to do is turn him Heel again and use the heat he currently has from the fans on him and hey presto WWE have got themselves some ratings again. It won't be long before Cena is loved as a heel, much like The Rock was. But I say let Cena build up a fan base all over again but as a main event heel then leave him be.

That's exactly the way I feel. He is so annoyingly childish in basically everything he does and says, he cannot help but be over with kids.
That's fine, but everybody knows that the same kids who scream his name and cheer him every night, will very soon grow up, and grow tired of Mr. Samey Samey.

So what then? Alienate them just like we've been alienated these last couple of years?
The common sense thing to do is for Cena to return as a heel. A whole new beginning.
A whole new fanbase will appear instantaneously, and if handled correctly, could even approach Stone Cold territory in terms of popularity.

But a different kind of popularity. One which would produce real heat, and create exciting new avenues for Cena.
I don't mean a fully-fledged heel in the Shane Douglas style, but maybe more of an Austin or as you've said, The Rock.
The cocky, trash-talking arrogant style heel. That would suit Cena immensely I believe.

As for 2004, well the last five years have just all been a blur to me as far as wrestling goes.
I reckon I couldn't tell you the main event of any of those PPVs you mentioned. They all seem to mingle and merge into one foul smelling product of Mister McMahon's manly anus.

2004 for me was the start of the decline. Brock left, leaving a MASSIVE void. Cena arrived, and left an even bigger void.
It's also when I began watching independent wrestling, realising that the spirit of my beloved ECW had not died after all.
It just changed it's name to Ring Of Honor.

I thought 2004 was a great year for the WWE. I think it was the last year that held my attention for all 12 months and was very entertaining.

The Royal Rumble itself was a classic and I think it's the 3rd best ever behind 2001's and 1992's matches. So many great moments- Kane being eliminated after hearing Taker's 'gong!', Orton being number 2 and doing very well until Mick Foley's surprise return, Goldberg being number 30 and looking amazing until Lesnar ran until the ring, Nunzio cowardly hiding outside was hilarious and of course Benoit winning it after being number 1. The final guys in the ring are some of my favorite wrestlers ever including Y2J, Angle, RVD, Cena (at the time I was a big fan), Benoit (at the time everyone was a fan) and err, Big Show. Of course this rumble will be tainted now and hard to watch thanks to Benoit...

Also on the card HBK vs HHH was pretty good.

Before NWO there was an amazing 15 man Royal Rumble which was incredible with Eddie and Angle being the final two. Also on SD Angle was simply the man having great matches with everyone including one with Hardcore Holly!

No Way Out was weak I thought but had two very good matches and 1 okay one. Angle/Cena/Show was okay, not great. I thought Eddie vs Chavo at rumble, but they were both great here. Chavo vs Rey was very very good and Eddie vs Brock was even better (in spite of Goldberg) ending with one of my favorite wrestling moments when Eddie finally won the title.

Mania XX was brilliant too! So many great matches on this card- Orton/Flair/Batty vs Foley/Rock was good Eddie vs Angle was a treat as was Kane vs Taker, until the match started. I think that HHH vs HBK vs Benoit was not only match of the year but possibly the very best Mania match ever and certainly the best Mania main event, seeing Benoit and Eddie in the ring with their titles was a great feeling. My favorite though was Y2J vs Christian as it was one of the best built feuds I have ever seen and the payoff was great giving us a great match and a heel turn for Trish.

Raw was then very good with the Christian/Y2J/Trish feud still going strong, Stratus heel turn continued to be brilliant and showed amazing charisma (it was around this time that I became a big fan of her and she is now one of my top 20 wrestlers ever). I thought that after his Mania win and now that he has Trish as his valet and Tomko as his bodyguard that they could have pushed the CLB into the main events and think they should have. It was around this time too that Shelton beat HHH was a huge mark-out moment!

Also the Orton vs Foley feud was breathtaking and Mick, my favorite promo guy ever, cut two brilliant promos on Orton, asking him to spit in his face again.

Their Backlash match was probably the 2nd best match of the year too and made Orton into a star. HBK/Benoit/HHH was as Flyers said not as good as the first one but still alright. Y2J vs CLB & Trish was fun too.

I don't remember much from JD apart from Eddie bleeding oh and Mordecai killing Scotty 2 Hotty...

Vengeance um....can't remember. The HIAC match cool, but JR's "THIS IS THE BEST MATCH EVER" was dumb beyond belief when it was merely a rehash of HBK's and HHH's million previous matches. The world champions match with Kane was overlooked by it too.

GAB- JBL wins the world title and Paul Bearer gets buried in cement, moving on... Vengeance was pretty forgetful tbh though Benoit beat the HHH who was in his power hungry phase.

Summerslam was a mixed bag. This is summed up perfectly by the Taker vs JBL match as it was terrible and hilarious. The crowd doing a Mexican wave (by the way don't you Americans call it a Mexican wave as Tazz just said "It's a world title match and the crowd are doing 'a wave' Canadians...." Benoit/Orton was pretty exciting as shown by Orton's erection after winning the belt (look at the images and you can see he got VERY excited bit...) Eddie vs Angle was very good. Also on the card DIVA DOGEBALL!!!! I think HHH fought a retard on this PPV, my how the mighty have fallen.

Well HHH was fed up with fighting Eugene so booked himself to win the world title back from Orton which made me fuming. A ladder match between Captain Charisma and Y2J nor Orton's AMAZING RKO on Coach could wipe the bitter taste that the main event left in my mouth though sadly.

No Mercy hmmm I think I liked this PPV. JBL/Taker was good, Eddie/Luther Reings likewise and I think Angle had a good match but I can't remember what it was. I just know that I quite liked this PPV.

Taboo Tuesday was good too. Edge was about to go full blown heel and turn into a major star, Orton/Flair was a brutally good cage match but it was Y2J and Shelton whole stole the show. Why oh why did they not push Shelton more?

Every time someone posts that Orton flopped after winning the title due to not working as a face I point them towards SSeries and show then how wrong they are. Orton was very over as a face and could have huge. It was the concussion angle at the rumble that ruined him, not his face turn. I don't know what else happened here...

I missed Armageddon as is customary every year.
