So what does everyone think about the start to this season?
I think it was a little dull at the start, but has picked up when Rene came back. I hate seeing Jack leaching after her though. Ewww.
President Taylor isn't as annoying this year and the Slumdog Millionaire President guy has been pretty captivating and a real coup for the show as that actor is huge in India.
As for the new guys at CTU Freddie Prince Jr. is probably the best, even if he does seem a bit boy-scout good at the moment. Hastings is an utter wanker, who would probably make Ryan Chappelle quiver. That new perv guy (Artlow something....) has been pretty good.
However there is Dana...... WHY?!!! When will they learn that we don't give a shit about random CTU characters backstories? We don't care about Sylar's dying sister in Season 3, Samwise's junkie sister in Season 6 and CERTINLY not Erin Driscoll's suicidal daughter from Season 4..... This literally NEVER works in 24. Ugh.
Also hopefully they keep David Anders alive and give him a big role as he is awesome. He's the dude playing that crazy Russian's son btw who Heroes fans will know as the great Adam Munroe and Alias fans as Julian Sark- (probably my favourite TV character ever).
It does seem like the season's pacing has been a little slow at the moment, but hopefully things will pick-up again soon and I also hope we'll get to see returns of Logan, Tony, Aaron Pierce and Mandy......

From what I hear, Logan is coming back later in the series for a confrontation with President Taylor......should be interesting!
I think Tony will no doubt be back, and it would be awesome for Mandy to come back out of nowhere......she's been gone too long, and the show needs a real evil bitch back in it again!
On the subject of 24, what is everybody's favourite season? Mine is a toss up between 4 and 5....

I have called it quits on 24. The show had a good, solid set-up for a series-finale last year and they should have had Jack die. I refuse to watch this season and just pretend that's what happened, rather than have yet another of "OMG WHERE IS IT WE NEED MORE TIMEZOR!!!!"
On the subject of favourite season, mine is definitely the first. Jack was a fairly normal dude in that season who was put in extraordinary circumstances. Sure, he had special training and whatnot, but there was no hijacking planes by flying them with a single wire, no miracle cures out of no where or being tortured until he died and then brought back to life. It was a simple season of tough decisions about a man torn between his duty to country and duty to family. Then the series started to douche it up by increasingly turning Jack into the american James Bond with a stupid amount of "twists" and "moles" and "ZOMG W1TH0uT JaCk WESA ALLSA dIeZZZZzZzzOO000ORR!!!!". The country is going to be a graveyard once Jack gets a couple more years on him and starts having to use a walker to get around.

Wow Season 7 really pissed you off then? I thought it was a welcome return to form. I don't hate it that Jack Bauer is still alive, it's the fact that everything Jack knows or does is always right. Forget the highly trained people at CTU, if Jack's opinion differs then we know it's him who is in the right. However last season I felt that Jack was human for the first time in years and I loved that Muslim preacher who verbally owned him. Awesome.
It's hard to say which one is the best. It's much easier to know which one is the worst- that would be Season 6 by a country mile.
The other 6 seasons though have been pretty stellar.
Season 1 Good points: It was the first one! Nina's shocking heel turn, the first half with the kidnapping of his family was outstanding tension. Also Mia Kirshner kisses a girl and she likes it. The tension between David and Sherri was exceptional towards the end of the year.
Bad points: The 2nd half of the year was pretty lame with Teri losing her memory and Kim Bauer being a twat and getting arrested.... The David Palmer story lines where very slow at the start.
Season 2 Good points: Most of it really. The CTU bombing looked awesome, George Mason's death is perhaps the greatest moment in 24 history, I really enjoyed the Warner storylines too. Plus Nina Myers return meant we had some very emotional showdowns with Jack Bauer and a Mia Kirshner sighting! The ending may look awful now knowing that everything that happened was never explained, but that's Season 3's fault.
Bad points: EVERY Kim Bauer scene besides the one where she speaks to Jack and he tells her he's going to die. Kate Warner can't act all and the villain is fairly forgettable. Jack dies too...
Season 3 Good points: The Salazar brothers are two of the best villains and I loved Jack going undercover with them, the hotel scenes were incredible. Chloe O'Brian!
Bad points: Kim Bauer trying to be taking seriously as a CTU agent. Rather dull main villain. Never explaining the final episode of season 2 nor revealing what Nina whispered into Jack's ear the year before.....
Season 4 Good points: The sleeper cell terrorist family. Good new characters such as Bill, Edgar, Walt, Logan, Audrey and Curtis, returns for Tony and Mandy, Jack "dying" and walking off into the sunset.
Bad points: The main terrorist plot didn't get revealed until very late and until that point never really seemed that serious. The adventures of Erin Driscoll ad suicide daughter... The ending where they shoot down the missile JUST in time was ridiculous and wtf happened to Behrooz anyway?....Or the President for that matter...
Season 5 Good points: Shocking start by killing off two of the main characters in the first episode. Walt being a traitor (sorry wait he wasn't a traitor he was "a PATRIOT!!"), and then Logan being the real guy behind everything was amazing- best actor in the entire series? Aaron Pierce kicking ass was just awesome too. Also Christopher Henderson was one of the most formidable threats Jack ever had. Edgar's death was perhaps the most heartbreaking moment ever... "Chloe!?"
Bad points: Tony's death that wasn't. They never wanted to kill him off, so why bother in the first place? Anything else wrong with this season? Oh wait yeah, Samwise got mugged and then didn't tell anybody about his stolen swipe pass and Kim Bauer returned- fuck you.
Season 6 Good points: Agent Mike Doyle. The final 5 minutes of the 4th episode were outstanding too. Tom Lennox wasn't bad either.
Bad points: Everything else? The mastermind of Season 5 being Jack's brother and Donald Sutherland NOT being Jacks father? Wayne was a totally shit president, Logan being stabbed and then forgotten about for the rest of the season.
Season 7 Good points: Good new characters such as Larry Moss, Renne Walker and the new Chole-lite who's name I've forgotten. Jack being called out on his dickhead-ness Bill's heroic death was one of those classic 24 moments and Tony Almedia was great all year....
Bad points: ...but did he have to kill off Larry? The President's daughter being a slag. Surely a "I shagged the President's daughter" would have got that journalist more money than whatever it was he was thinking of selling beforehand? Jack being a total emo c**t and Kim Bauer- fuck you.

The way they've really fucked up this show is that it never varies from the premise of a terror group wanting to destroy Americans. The direction the show should have taken was after Jack got abducted by the Chinese at the end of whatever season it was (they all become a blur after so long). The following season should have focussed entirely on Jack escaping from the Chinese prison. That could have been a believable 24 hour scenario. Another way they fucked up the show was when the nuke was detonated in LA. That was truly a remarkable moment, but what followed was 16 hours of melodrama about Maurice falling off the wagon etc. FOR FUCK'S SAKE, SOME TWAT'S JUST DROPPED A DIRTY BOMB IN YOUR BACKYARD AND YOU'RE WHINING ABOUT MAURICE KNOCKING BACK A SWIFT ONE? Seriously, Chloe, as much as I like you and your pouty scowl, please die already. This season is shaping up badly, and I am beginning to wish Jack had said FUCK THIS I'M COMING TO LA WITH YOU THREE!

I also hated everyone having a go at Morris/Maurice cracking under torture. They were fucking drilling into his back! Anybody human would have cracked.

except for Jack bauer, of course. we would have been like "Bitches, you think that drill can do shit? P-LEASE! Go for two drills. and shock my testicles. and put bamboo sticks underneath my nails. all while waterboarding. then you've got a 0.05% chance of making me speak, aka the second before the commercial break."

so this will be the final season of 24. I agree with the call, but still gonna miss it And they will be making a film, however it will not be 24 hours long.

They should call it 2. I heard they were shooting the movie in London. That'd be a nice idea. It'd be a great idea to make it as kind of a homage to that great film Black Sunday, and have some terrorists threaten to nuke the Olympic Stadium during the opening ceremony.

Fuck!... Renee died! What an excellent episode. Everything Jack touches dies. Wouldn't surprise me if his daughter's plane crashes on it's approach to LAX.
