I just watched David Haye take the WBA title from the giant Valuev. I never gave him a chance to be honest, as I thought Valuev's size would be just tom much to overcome.
But it seems Haye fought the right fight the best way he could to secure the victory. I was pretty sure after the bell that he had not done enough to sway the judges, but the final round he rocked Valuev almost to toppling, which I an sure was the deciding factor in the fight.
Valuev would be quite justified to challenge the decision as I reckon it was a very close contest, but upon reflection, he did not worry Haye at all throughout the 12 rounds. Haye on the other hand worried Valuev on a couple of occasions in the middle rounds and won the final round decisively.
So a slightly controversial decision which will no doubt spawn a rematch at the Dome, but I'm extremely happy that the very likeable David Haye has managed to silence at least some of his naysaying critics.
