In what has to be one of the most fascinating F1 stories in a while it seems that fired Renault driver Nelson Piquet Jr (unfairly fired too imo) has gone on record as saying that in Singapore last year he crashed on purpose, after being told to do so by his race engineer and Flavio Briatore himself, in order to bring out the safety car and help Alonso win. Here is a link with a video explaining the whole odeal. You think it could be true? It seems crazy. Why would someone risk the driver's and the fan's safety just to earn 10 points and why would the driver be so stupid as to do it? If Nelson is telling the truth then Renault could be kicked out of F1. If he's not then he will probably never race in the sport again, who would want to take him on? Seems silly right? I wouldn't believe a word of it were it not for a certain crash by a certain ex-Flavio driver in a Benetton against a certain British driver in the last race in a season, which I've always maintained was done on purpose in order to win the championship....

Flavio and the other man accused by Piquet have now quit F1 and Renault said they will NOT fight the accusations!
Wow! Renault are sooo guilty!
That said Piquet has still screwed his career.
