So this is a few weeks overdue, but I thought I'd make this post as I am really enjoying the season thus far, and not only because United won yesterday. I like the fact that people are now talking about "the top 6" rather than the 'big 4' with City and Spurs being thrown into the mix.
So out of the big teams Chelsea and City currently have a 100% record (though City have played one less game), United and Spurs have both lost once (Spurs to Man U yesterday and United to Burnley.......) while Liverpool and Arsenal twice (Liverpool to Spurs and Villa and Arsenal to both Manchester clubs).
Meanwhile Portsmouth (isn't that your team Flyers?) are doomed to relegation.
I have to say that Arsenal are by far the most entertaining club, first Arsne got sent to the stands for kicking a bottle in the 94th minute and he hilariously climbed the railings into the United section and then yesterday Adebayor..... you see his celebration? He scored for City and then ran the whole pitch in 15 seconds to taunt the Arsenal fans and almost caused a riot in doing so.
It was such a prick thing to do, but as a non-Arsenal fan it was hilarious!
However this on the other hand is unacceptable and he should be given a long suspension imo.
Sadly that suspension probably won't come into place this week which sucks for United as it's the Manchester derby.... also next week is Chelsea vs Spurs which will be a big indicator whether Tottenham can hang in there with the big clubs.
So what's your views on the season thus far? You think any one team looks good for the belt, or are the 4, or even 6, clubs in with a shout? Me personally I think Spurs won't be able to keep up their form, but City probably will.

Pompy lost again! I think you need a new team to cheer on Flyers as your current one sucks.
So Arsenal and Liverpool (just) won again yesterday, as did Villa who may fancy their chances of breaking up the top 6. It's now time for the two big games- Man U vs City and Spurs vs Chelsea! Come on you non-blue teams!

Well Bolton wandered into the 4th round of the Carling Cup mid-week, but then so did your Pompy boys too.
This could be a very interesting cup as all the big eight teams (yeah I'm including Villa and Everton) are still there and City and Spurs are really going all out to win this. Arsene as usual proves that he doesn't give a crap about it. Yes United, Liverpool and Chelsea don't care about it either, but at least they have won something in the last five years...
I saw the draw and was like "yes, Scunthorpe!!.... oh crap that's Man City..." Barnsley are a tricky club as they proved two years ago beating Liverpool and Chelsea. Then there is Spurs vs Eveton and the big Arsenal kids against Liverpool match.
Yeah I am talking a lot about the Carling Cup because this week's fixtures in the league look a bit dull...

So we are 11 games in and I have to say that I don't think either Liverpool or City have a chance of winning the title now. Liverpool's problems have been well documented while City just draw far too much, including a 3-3 home one yesterday with Burnley, who had lost every match away until this. As for Spurs, well they are simply choke artists. I do think those three teams, along with Villa (I don't think Sunderland are good enough) will be battling for the final Champs League spot, but I honestly think Liverpool will retain it.
So I think the real battle is between the three teams who have won the title before (Blackburn don't count). I am not at all confident about out chances of beating Chelsea today and if we lose that we'll be five points behind. Our team isn't playing well, but we are getting results, which Alan Hansen always says is the trait of a champion, but I think the real battle will be between Chelsea and Arsenal and if that's the case I hope the Gooners get it as they have played some beautiful football this year.

I am not confident that Liverpool will retain the 4th spot in the Premiership this season, I think we're really poor this season. We've fucked up the Champions League already and look set for the lovely Europa League. And after our 2-2 draw with Birmingham tonight, Liverpool are falling even further behind everyone else. And in all honesty, there is no one else to blame apart from Rafa Benitez. He gambles on signing players no one has ever heard of instead of signing the players we need. Seriously, Aurellio? Kyragonos? Dossena? Lucas? I had and many people I know had not heard of this players before they come to the Kop and they've done shit all. In short, Rafa Benitez needs to go. Sure we won the Champions League under him, but since then what else?
I think Tottenham will take the 4th spot and probably not qualify for the Champions League through last qualifying stage.
Chelsea or Arsenal will win the League Title. And I agree with you Tim, Arsenal have played some beautiful football this year. Plus it'd be refreshing for them to win it. Also show that you dont need to spend big in order to do well.
Man Utd are doing okay, but clearly miss Tevez and Ronaldo. Valencia just isn't picking up where Ronaldo left off as many people expected him to. Also I'm still baffled by Fergie's choice not to start Owen yesterday after his goal midweek.

I just watched Liverpool vs. Birmingham down the pub and while Liverpool fans will say they deserved to win (and perhaps they did) I feel that Birmingham were cheated with Ngog's awful dive for that penalty.
I dunno if it's all Rafa's fault. He had no money to spend as Liverpool's owners are useless. Had he not been forced to sell Alonso and had the money to buy Villa I feel that things may be different. Also you have no luck with fitness what with Torres, Gerrard and a new injury tonight, holy shit.
I did love Rafa's comment before Lyon though- "when you walk, through a storm, keep your head held high" that shows how much he cares for the club, shame the Lyon result never came. It's now a MASSIVE game against City in two weeks! But first there is the small matter of the World Cup Playoffs!! OMG *dies from excitement!*

Also you have no luck with fitness what with Torres, Gerrard and a new injury tonight, holy shit. I agree the injuries that we've had haven't helped but then Rafa should have better depth in the squad. Rafa didn't have to sell Alonso. Alonso wanted to go due to having a fall out with Benitez. So it's kinda Benitez's fault. I understand that Alonso wanted to play more but Benitez kept going with the underperforming Lucas. Sure the money problem doesn't help Liverpool, but you can get decent players for a cut price. Plus he did lose £12mil on selling Keane back to Spurs last january instead of giving him the rest of the season to settle in.

Ugh, it looks like Liverpool's injuries don't even compare to United's who are now without Rio, Vidic, O'Shea, Evans, Brown, Fabi, Rafael, Neville, Hargreaves and Van der Sar. The only one of the first team back five is Evra.... Also Rooney and Berbatov are out.... can we even get 11 players?
So last weekend Man U, Arsenal and Villa all won their games, while Spurs and Liverpool only got a draw. In the big match City beat Chelsea in a great match. That means the table is;
1. Chelsea- 36 2. Man U- 34 3. Arsenal- 28 4. Spurs- 27 ------ 5. Villa- 26 ------ 6- Man City- 25 7. Liverpool- 24
City and the Gunners still have a game in hand.
Meanwhile at the bottom Pompy, despite finding good form and winning a few matches are still bottom and Bolton don't look much better in 19th. Wolves are down in the bottom three also while West Ham and Everton's seasons have been terrible and they near the bottom also seperated by Hull who have been fantastic ever since Jimmy Bullard returned from injury.... shame he's injured again. Inconsistent Wigan who can beat Chelsea one week and then lose 9-1 to Spurs the next are just above the Toffees and above them are Burnley who's away from is AWFUL, but who's hone form has been epic- will that keep them up?
Brilliant in Europe Fulham, new rich kids Birmingham, free falling Sunderland, Stoke & Blackburn make up the rest of the table.

So the premier league's race for fourth place is still on between Spurs, City, Liverpool and Villa.
But enough of that, what about the Champions League eh? Yesterday Arsenal knocked out Porto and Bayen defeated Fiorentina, but today Man U stunned Millan with a stunning 4-0 victory. However the even bigger news is that Real Madrid drew with Lyon 1-1, which means the French champions knockout Real via a home victory in the first leg. Seriously this is awful for Madrid. Think how much they spent on Alonso, Benzema, Kaka and of course that record signing for Ronaldo. Haha!
So with Fiorentina and Millan out, Inter are now the only Italian club left in and they will be the underdogs against Chelsea next week. Spain still have Serville and champions Barca and both of them will be favourites against CSKA and Stuttgart. The final match sees Olympiacos needed an away win in Bordeaux.
In the Europa League the Italian woes continued as Roma were embarrassed by Panathinaikos, both Turkish giant clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbahce suffered last-minute goals as they lost to Athletico Madrid and Lille. It was a fantastic round for Belgium clubs as and Anderlecht and Standard made it through (Brugge being the only one to go out with defeat to Valencia) while their Dutch neighbours had a nightmare round with both PSV and Twente losing to German clubs Hamburg and Bremen.
The only other club Hertha lost to Benefica while fellow Portuguese team Sporting also triumphed over the useless Everton. Everton's derby rivals Liverpool could still win something this year as could the awesome Fulham, who's excellent victory has earned them a match against..... Juventus! Juventus defeated Ajax in the tie of the last round. Marseille and Rubin make up the other teams still in.
Which means the draw for the next round is: Hamburg vs. Anderlecht Rubin Kazan vs. Wolfsburg Athletico Madrid vs. Sporting Lisbon Benefica vs. Marseille Panathinaikos vs. Standard Liege Lille vs. Liverpool Juventus vs. Fulham Valencia vs. Werder Bremen
Some good ties here. I want Fulham to win the tournament, but I reckon they will lose sadly. After Fulham Valancia is my favourite and I think they will beat Bremen. Liverpool should win their tie and so will both Portuguese sides along with both 'burg's. Panathinaikos vs Standard is too tight to call.

So yeah Fulham lost the first leg and then conceeded first in the 2nd and needed four goals to go through..... and they got them!
Anyway as you know by now Chelsea lost to Inter, hahaha!
In the quarter finals though Man U lost to Bayern 2-1, but I am still confident will can turn that around and face Lyon in the last four, who will defeat their fellow French club. Arsenal have it all to do against Barca and CSKA aren't out of this yet against Inter.
In the Europa league Fulham beat Wolfsburg 2-1 at home, so that's all to play for still. Hamburg got a home 2-1 as well against Standard and Liverpool gifted a 1-0 away victory away buy conceding two penalties against Benfica.... they are so shit. In the final game Valencia's David Villa got a late equalizer against Athletico to avoid a 2-1 home loss.
I reckon the final four of the champions league will be: Lyon vs Man U and Barca vs Inter and in the Europa, Benifica vs. Valencia (despite the home draw) and Standard vs Fulham.
