Last Friday 15th of June, it was announced that Sherri Martel had died at the age of 49. The cause of death is still unclear.
I have never been nor probably ever will be a fan of women's wrestling, but Sherri Martel made the switch from wrestler to highly successful heel manager probably better than most. As the manager of "Macho King" Randy Savage, "Sensational Queen" Sherri guided Savage through one of his most memorable stints, and later hooked up with the fledgling heel Shawn Michaels during his most productive years prior to DX.
And who can forget her association with Shane Douglas during the first years of ECW when she managed him to his first ECW Championship, which he binned and renamed the company Extreme Championship Wrestling?
As irritating as she was, she had the desired effect of creating heat to surround a new heel, and in doing so wrote herself into much of wrestling's most treasured history.
Rest In Peace "Sensational" Sherri Martel 1958-2007

I was sad to see how WWE have treated this matter, what with Vince's "Fake death" as the only storyline they are even bothering about now, all they have managed to give Sherri is a quick black screen image. No video package, nothing.
Yet this Monday sickening as it is, we have a Vince McMahon Tribute show.

Even sadder when you consider how well recieved Sherri's Hall Of Fame induction speech was only a few months ago. She tore the house down and left people wondering why she was not currently on TV any more.
Add to that the outpouring of false sentiment we've seen regarding the "death" of Mr. McMahon (notice how they no longer refer to him as Vince - except Foley that is...). Even Chavo aired an "emotional" speech as McMahon's passing. I don't know how he could keep a straight face. It's almost enough to make you believe that Eddie is not dead after all. If WWE can fake such a high profile death as Vince McMahon, then it's not beyond reason that could have done it with Eddie Guerrero.
So regarding this recent death angle. Do you see a way back from this, or do you really reckon that's the last we've seen of Vince? My theory is that he will surface some time in the next few weeks, bewildered and suffering from chronic amnesia, having been blown from the wreckage and landing some distance away from the explosion. It's all a bit fucking sad if you ask me, but it's got tongues wagging again, and I guess that's what it's all about.

Well, i guess we now know how the death angle was going to end. It took a horrific tragedy, involving one Chris benoit to end the idiotic angle.
As far as Sherri goes, i was heartbroken to hear about her passing. She was one of the best, as far as women in wrestling goes. She contributed a hell of alot, and it's a damn shame that she had to go so soon. She will be missed and remembered fondly by many.

Damn, this is sad. I loved Sherri as the Macho Queen during Savage's heel run and when she managed Ted Dibase and HBK. Also who will ever forget her during Angle's 'Sexy Kurt' promo?
