I was just surfing and went on Wikipedia to look at a bio of Ed Harris, when the front page featured article caught my attention. I thought it a bit random, featuring an obscure WWF PPV, but then I noticed the date and it dawned on me. I couldn't believe it. Ten years ago today, I watched the live pay per view when Owen Hart was killed in that tragic accident. The WWE "Universe" (ugh...) has become a very different place in these past ten years. Back then it was good. It's getting good again, but when you look back, maybe it is with rose-tinted glasses in my case, but the WWE of today is far less enjoyable than those bygone days of old. I guess Owen did account for much of that enjoyment back then. But I also reckon he was vastly overlooked really, being little more than a bit player in the land of Stone Cold, The Rock and The Undertaker, but his death hit me every bit as hard as Eddie's did. Maybe even harder when you read what a great guy he was outside the ring. Shame you never hear about the good things till it's time for an obituary... So I'll raise a glass and remember Owen ten years on. God bless him.

The first I ever knew of Owen as after the WWF Attitude intro when it came up with "Owen James Hart- RIP" at the end. I wound up playing as Owen all the time in the end on that game.
I love reading about Owen Hart pranks and hearing stories from the likes of Jarrett, Foley, Rocky and HHH about him. There is one I think in Foley's book where I think where he was in a car with Luger and Daveyboy and one of the other two is driving when Owen tricks them into thinking that Shawn Michaels is in another car and wants to race. Then they get pulled over by the cops and then Bulldog gives Luger a toy gun and the police then ask him to get out the car and handcuff him. Another was when he apprently hid Vince's McMahon's briefcase on hid it on a ceiling fan. Or the prank phone calls he made to several guys, the one Test mentions during Owen's tribute show is gold.
I also laughed a lot reading Rock's and Foley's book at Owen's "bad matches" and wish some of those were on camera, the closest I can find is when he ever so briefly gave HHH a small package in the Royal Rumble 96.
Owen Hart is in my top 10 wrestlers ever, he was an outstanding wrestler and so funny on the mic.... aside from the infamous "I kicked your leg out from under your leg!" quip. Anyone seen the PPV where Owen is a guest commentator? I really want to track that down, I've read he's awesome. Plus he hits the best enziguri I've ever seen.
RIP Two Time Slammy Award Winning, Rocket, Black Harted Nugget and King of Hart's Owen.
