Okay so I promised that I'd write a recap of the TNA show I went to see at Wembley on Saturday and here it is!
I arrived at Wembley Arena and couldn't have asked for better tickets! They were awesome, so close, as you will see in the images.
The show began with some random guy in the ring...a roadie I guess...anyway he introduced us all to Jeremy Borash! When I saw Raw live the first person I saw was Ric Flair! Here it was JB. Oh well, everybody still marked out like hell for the guy. Loud "JB" chants were heard as the man described by Steala as the real Clive Johnson made his way to the ring.
JB welcomed everybody to the show and handed out a few backstage passes to some people. He also said that there were people walking through the crowds who would be handing out additional passes to the 'loudest fans'. He then announced that the following match was for the X-Division Championship!
Black Machismo vs. Doug Williams vs. Eric Young vs. Alex Shelly
Lethal was the first guy walking down the ramp and he got a good reception. Doug Williams, being British and all, got an even better one. Eric Young’s pop wasn’t bad. I tried to start a “Fire Eric” chant, but it didn’t catch on. Then out came Shelly who was the most over guy in the match. Everybody near me were doing Shelly’s signature hand gesture.
I can’t really remember the match all that well. I spent the whole time yelling abuse at a child in a blue jumper a few rows ahead of me who kept standing up throughout the match. “Sit Your Ass Down!” being one of my chants to the boy, though most of it was random abuse like “Boy in the blue jumper, sit the fuck down!” As expected Shelly won!
Consequences Creed!
Creed was the next guy who came out for his match. Nobody really cared about him. I’m never going to cheer someone who’s attire consists of stars and stripes unless his name is Kurt Angle.
vs. Scott Steiner!
I am NOT a Steiner fan at all. I can’t stand the man. Yet I marked out when I heard the siren that begins his entrance music. There were loud “You can’t wrestle!” chants aimed at Scott, which weren’t nice. Scott was a terrific heel. Some people sitting in the place WWE commentating tables would be were hurling abuse towards him and Scott was shouting back at them. It was awesome. However Steiner was VERY popular! Some people cheered for Creed’s bland Americana ass but most people were behind Scott. This resulted in dual “Let’s go Steiner! Let’s go Creed!” chants. I, and everybody near me, cheered on Scott who eventually one with the Steiner Recliner. A very good match actually. Scott really CAN wrestle! Also wow his muscles are a sight to behold!
More JB bullshit followed before he announced a Knockout Tag Match. Sadly Awesome Kong or Roxi weren’t in it, but we got the Beautiful People Instead. My mate then decided to get out his camera and take a few shots of them…for reasons I can’t understand……..
My mate likes Angelina Love more for some reason. He may have changed his match however when the bell rang and Sky took up her place on the apron and asked for a tag…
OMG!
Anyway their opponents were..
The Beautiful People vs. Taylor Wilde & ODB
ODB was VERY over. Loud “ODB” chants could be hard during this match, though again everybody in my area (perhaps being influenced by Velvet Sky’s ass- damn Gregory Helms is a lucky bastard) cheered on the Beautiful People. Oh btw Kip James/Billy Gunn was NOT there before you ask…
ODB got the 1, 2, 3 and afterwards Sky took the microphone and said “England sucks” which we cheered lol. “I am never…” as soon as she said ‘never’ everybody imitated Y2J’s catchphrase and said “EVVVVVVER!” but then she surprised us by unintentionally completing the catchphrase “..come back here again.” She then said “Soccer sucks” leaving everybody confused. Soccer? What the hell is that?
JB then said the following is a hardcore tag match! Fucking awesome!
Team 3D vs. Beer Money!
Beer Money were MASSIVELY over! There were Beer Money signs everywhere and everyone kept saying “Sorry about your damn luck!” before the show began. Beer Money T-Shirts were worn by everyone too with the logo: “‘Mind on my money’- Robert Roode. ‘Money on my beer’- James Storm” which I love. My mate bought one of them, I nearly went for a Christian Cage shirt myself. Then Team 3D came out and they were even more popular!
The match was fantastic! The brawled through the crowd, very near me…well I ran over to see Bubba and Roode fight. They used chairs, kendo sticks and of course tables! The match ended when they 3D’d one of Beer Money (can’t remember who) through the table. Bubba then got on the mic and said he appreciated all the ‘Dudley’ and ‘ECW’ chants, but they are Team 3D and this is T-N-A! His promo was awesome.
Oh that last one reminded me- Earl Hebner was there! He had massive heat! Very loud “You screwed Bret!” chants were aimed at him. I guess the Anglo-Canadian Hart Foundation Alliance is still strong! Poor Earl refereed three or four matches that night and got a lot of stick for SSeries 97. Meh, it’s his fault. He DID screw Bret Hart so don’t feel sorry for Earl. We didn’t screw Hebner- Hebner screwed Hebner. At one point Earl walked right past me and I shouted out “EARL!” to get his attention then “YOU SCREWED BRET!” …….yes, I am so witty…
They then had a little intermission where Dixie Carter came out with the titles and fans could line up to be photographed with them. I was thirsty however and after watching Storm drink beer I decided to buy some of my own.
After the break JB welcomed Dixie Carter to the ring. “Thank you Dixie!” chants echoed throughout the arena as she did a speech saying thanks to all the TNA fans and to Bravo TV for giving them a chance. Well to be honest they first put it on Bravo 2, so it wasn’t a huge gamble. It sure beats Dog The Bounty Hunter. Anyway she thanked Bravo and then they filmed a TNA commercial there as the camera panned round the arena. I must have been in it as I was right at the front, but I couldn’t see myself. Damn. Anyway we were then told to thank some French and German TV station…..pfft. They might as well have told Canadians to cheer HBK. We booed them and I noticed JB and a cameraman laugh at us.
Carter thanked a few wrestling journalists in attendance and someone behind me started chanting “POWER SLAM! POWER SLAM!” obviously about the magazine, but I chanted it too about out forum lol. Then Carter welcomed….. “The biggest acquisition in TNA history!” OMG Christian?! No. Angle!? No. …Sting? Nope and not even Pac-man Jones. It was Mick Foley!
I marked out as did everyone else. Mick is my favourite ever wrestler! I was so close to touching him, but he went into the ring instead, asshole.
I found a video link of Mick’s promo on Youtube someone filmed. At the start of the promo Mick points and mentions a sign than says ‘Angle Grind Me!’ held by a rather attractive girl. I know she was fit as I was standing right in front of her! So this will give you a rough idea of where I am.

After Mick had finished singing obscure rap songs nobody knew we were on to our next match.
Bashir vs. Brutus Magnus
Tbh nobody really cared about this match. I didn’t even know who Magnus was and Bashir just plain sucks. Bashir won by holding the tights I think but we got a rematch where Brutus one in front of his British home crowd! Yay…
Anyway JB then announced THE match.
Matt Morgan &…
Onto the next match and we were told it was going to be a tag team match. Matt Morgan btw got the biggest heat on the entire show! More than Steiner! Hell more than Earl even! VERY, VERY loud “YOU CAN’T WRESTLE!” chants were sung every time he did anything. I felt rather sorry for him as he’s pretty good.
Abyss vs..
Abyss!!!!!! Unlike Morgan everybody loves Abyss!
So seeing Abyss was great but coming out next were the two people that everybody came to see and they got the two biggest ovations of the entire night by far. Coming to the ring first…
Samoa Joe
Joe is the fucking man! I love the guy and so did everybody there!
& AJ Styles!!!
AJ however is my favourite TNA guy and judging by the HUUUUGE ovation he got, he’s London’s favourite too! I kept singing his theme tune as we walked down…well “I AM, I AM!” that’s the only bit I know.
As SOON as the match began I shouted out “Joe is gonna kill you!” I only said it once but then I heard two people repeat it after me and suddenly I had started an arena wide chant of “JOE IS GONNA KILL YOU!” The moment of the night for me! I really did start a chant! Morgan wasn’t too happy with it mind. I fucking marked out of my mind when AJ hit the Pele Kick! It HAS to be the best move in the world and I could imagine Don West screaming “FROM OUT OF NOWHERE!” as he did it! Joe’s kicks look deadly in real life too and Abyss’ Shock Treatment on Styles was siiiiiick!! The match ended when AJ connected with an incredible springboard 450 splash on Abyss.
After the match Abyss and Morgan came to blows. We started a “Fuck him up Abyss. Fuck him up!” chant while somebody hilariously shouted out “You did this last week on Impact!”
It is now time for our Maaaaaaaaaaain Event!
KURT ANGLE!!!
Kurt Angle! Arguably the best wrestler in the world! His TNA run hasn’t been rather dull and not at all humorous but you can’t argue with all the incredible matches he had, especially last year. I marked out loads for the Olympic Medallist.
Vs. JEFF JARRETT!!!!!
Both wrestlers got massive cheers! I have to say Jarrett gets compared to HHH by some which is REALLY unfair. Jeff has done so much to help TNA while HHH does all he can to destroy WWE. Also everybody moans about Angle holding the title a lot, but it really isn’t his fault! He’s gone on record saying that Joe and AJ are the two who get the biggest cheers and that he wishes TNA management would focus more on the TNA originals rather than the ex-WWE talent, but the writers (RUSSO!) won’t let that happen. Nash has said the same too. Jeff got loads of “Thank you Jeff! Thank you Jeff!” chants while somebody in front of me kept shouting “Thank you Jarrett!” which doesn’t sound right.
Anyway what else separates them from HHH is that they usually always deliver in the ring and this was fantastic! Deserving of a main event even if it did come down to Russo-rifric booking with outside interference.
I dunno what is going on in this photo, but it’s hilariously gay looking!
The match delivered with both men hitting all their big moves like The Stroke, Belly to Belly suplexes, Germans etc.
Angle slam! Here he is about to hit one I guess.
“1, 2, ooooh twooooo!”
OMFG yes! An Angle running belly-to-belly off the turnbuckles!
Ankle lock!! Everyone began chanting “Please don’t tap!” as we didn’t want this show to end. Btw the crowd was torn right down the middle here. I was cheering on Kurt.
And then- yes- a Moonsault!!!!! Angle’s ALWAYS look the best!
The ref then took a bump causing Steiner to run to the ring and attack JJ, but Foley made the save with a Socko Claw to Kurt which was followed by a guitar shot by Jeff for the pinfall!
I like the way the Fire Exit sign is pointing to Kurt’s groin.
Then afterwards Foley invited all the faces back to the ring and they all came back…bar Shelly for some reason. A funny moment was when Foley forgot Brutus Magnus’ name and called him by his nickname “The Modern Day Gladiator” instead. From what I was told Brutus was actually in the UK’s new series of Gladiators but I don’t know if that’s true.
Joe was hilarious here as he picked up the remains of Jeff’s guitar and pretended to play it. It was great seeing people like AJ and Jeff talk to each other and laughing in the ring. This was when I shook JB’s hand and touched AJ and OMG- Creed too!!
A fantastic night. I am soooo going to go again! Dixie said she was thinking of either doing a PPV in the UK (huge cheers from the fans) or a one off special (boo!). Either way I am going to go again. This was also said to be TNA’s biggest crowd ever, which is probably true.
I arrived at Wembley Arena and couldn't have asked for better tickets! They were awesome, so close, as you will see in the images.
