Are you all wrapped and ready? Humming Jingle bells on the way to work?
or are you dreading the thought that you still have gifts/food to face the crowds and buy?

I'm kinda not in the mood for Christmas, although my banner would belie that fact. Having just lost my Nannan, and my wife currently at the hospital visiting her Nannan who is seemingly on her last legs, it has been a pretty sorry period for me recently. Add to that the fact that my wife also lost her job in November, so we've had to survive on only my wage for the last six weeks, PLUS my brother is serving in Afghanistan and won't be home till March - yeah I'm all "humbug" about Christmas this year.
But on a lighter note, a new nephew arrived last Wednesday, and he is awesome! His name is Evan Samson. What a great name for a UFC fighter!
So I've got most presents wrapped and ready, with a few left to buy on Xmas Eve - I'm working afternoons this week and that's the only time I'll get before Xmas.
But I have to admit I told the radio alarm to fuck off this morning when it went off to the sound of SLADE!
In many ways I hate Christmas for creeping up on me unawares this year, but for the sake of my mental health I'm gonna try and enjoy it for what it is.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS PEEPS!!!

I haven't bought any presents or cards and would be happier if Xmas just didn't happen this year.
I worked the weekend as well, so I've just had no time even if I wanted to stop and celebrate.
I just need sleep. Humbug!

I've still got a few gifts to buy - and then a bunch that still need to be wrapped, ugh, I hate going into stores this time of year.... Oh well, at least I got my cards out in time, and I've got all my food bought (and more importantly, the Christmas booze is in the fridge). The trees up, and I'm dancing around the house singing "Santa's a Bayman Like Us" And we've got snow now!!! I can't get excited for Christmas without it. It's going to be weird this year, it's the first Christmas without my grandmother, and it's the first time that I won't get to spend anytime on Christmas Day with my extended family, it's just going to be Jeff, Jade and I this year, and I'm used to a big family celebration. But, Jeff's mom will be here on Boxing Day, and we'll get out to see my folks a few days after that.

I am so ready for it! I have a tree, stockings, presents, advent calender, hell a whole nativity play going on in my house at the moment.......okay maybe not.
I got offered a job as a Santa in a Christmas Grotto the other week....which I turned down. I need the money though.

You turned down the chance to be Santa? What are you? Satan?
... or just very wary of the laws surrounding children and young people?

... or just very wary of the laws surrounding children and young people? It has gone quite mad tbh. All santa's are CRB checked (as they should be) but even so, Kids are no longer allowed to sit on Santa's knee. One of the mummies at my son's nursery said the santa she took her little girl to see wouldnt even allow photos as "she couldnt prove it was her child".... Im just about done now, just a couple of presents to wrap oh and a new dining table to put together as Homebase saw fit to deliver it a couple of days before Christmas, knowing full well that I have something of a flatpack fetish whilst pregnant... Taking the tribe to see the inlaws later today, but still not feeling very Christmassy

Hey, we get used to our grey Christmases. I feel sorry for Hellion, who has to endure a HOT Christmas.
Oh well it's Christmas tomorrow, and all the gifts are wrapped and ready for Santa to empty out of his sac. It's always worth all the hassle when you see people's horrified expressions as they open their Woolworths vouchers!
All the best to everyone here. Just cos I think it sucks this year don't mean I wanna make everyone else feel miserable. I hope you all have a swell time, and enjoy the well-earned break.
JUST DO WHAT MY BANNER SAYS!

No white Christmas here in Newfoundland either.... 10 degrees Celcius and rain tomorrow on Christmas Day! We actually have some snow down now, but it's gonna melt tomorrow with all that damn rain. It's not fair!!!
But, I've finished the shopping, have most of the gifts wrapped, and have my dessert made for supper tomorrow. So, all that's left is the opening of the presents and the cooking of the turkey dinner. Yay, turkey!!! lol
And, I love you all, so Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you guys have a safe and fun-filled holiday season.

You know what, I love turkey but Jules don't, so I've not had turkey for Xmas dinner for years. We're having a nice big joint of roast beef tomorrow, with Yorkshire Puddings, sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes and my special mash. And some right nice chocolate fudge Christmas pudding and custard for afters. Should be awesome! What's everyone else having?

I can't imagine having Christmas dinner without a turkey, I love turkey.
Turkey with homemade stuffing, salt beef, mashed potatoes, carrotts, mashed turnip, cabbage, carnberry sauce and of course, gravy for dinner and homemade trifles for dessert.
