So it's season premiere week, which means if you watch CBS, you'll likely catch the season premiere episodes of NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, CSI, CSI: New York, CSI: Miami, Two and a Half Men, and possibly Two and a Half Men: Las Vegas. I don't really know. I try not to watch that channel. This thread for the more original series coming out this year.
Lone Star - The title makes it sound like a TV miniseries about an outlaw on the run from the law for a crime he didn't commit. And that might be better than this, but it's not that at all. IMDB's plot summary: "An oil man lives a double life." There's got to be a more exciting way to put that. I'm guessing the Fox marketing team wrote that up.
Anyhow, I watched this last night and it was pretty okay. I'd watch it again, but mostly because it's slotted in a time zone full of crap. I watched it instead of "The Event", which turned me off with its annoying and contrived advertising. Just look at the plot from IMDB: "When a man goes looking for his missing girlfriend, he stumbles upon a government conspiracy that is bigger than the president himself." It just screams unresolved plotlines and convoluted storytelling. But if someone watches it, let me know how it is.
Other new series I'm looking forward to seeing: Running Wilde, The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, any of the other shows Will Arnett and David Cross happen to be doing together.

I'm increasingly out of touch with when shows have been released. This is a direct result of having a 400+ DVD collection and a TB of TV and movies on my HD. So when I'm here talking about new shows, I'm talking about shows which are new to me... which are generally relatively new anyway.
The shows I've been loving lately are "Eastbound and Down" and "Mad Men". I thought Eastbound and Down is one of the slickest and entertaining comedy shows to come out in a long time. And Mad Men is something I wish I'd started watching a long time ago. Having finished two seasons (waiting on the third to arrive on Blu ray from the US) I've found myself occassionally saying highly derogatory things to women. Funnily enough they don't seem to mind - it works a little something like this.
"Can you get me something to eat?" "Get it yourself!" "Listen, lady. It's a woman's job to please a man and do what he says. Now are you going to get me something to eat or what?" "What did you say?" "I'm sorry... I've been watching alot of Mad Men lately" "Oh my god! I love that show!"
And so forth. I've actually found that "Sorry, I've been watching alot of Mad Men lately" is an almost universally accepted response for mildly bad behaviour. It's great.

I've seen a handful of Mad Men episodes, but never really got into enough to the point of watching it weekly or searching it out on DVD. I would like to see any episodes with Alison Brie in them.
Heard many good things about Eastbound & Down but I've never seen it myself.
BTW, watched Running Wilde last night. The pilot started slow, but gained steam at the midpoint and showed flashes of the subtle Arrested Development humor that was expected. The voice over is annoying though. Needs more Ron Howard.

Okay, so the first show I mentioned in this thread was canceled after only two episodes. Go Fox.
The first episode of Todd Margaret was decent. I love the character. He definitely has the potential to be a classic.

Not seen any of the shows you mentioned so far, except I saw one episode of Mad Men, to see what all the fuss was about, and didn't like it.
I have however been watching the following shows, in order of greatness.
DEXTER - Just how much better can this show get? This has developed from being an excellent series which would have become legendary had it lasted only the first season, to a legendary show, which has not burned itself out after four seasons. On the contrary, it has gotten even better, with the writing, stories and characters all reaching new levels of awesomeness. Such has it embedded itself in my consciousness, Dexter is one of those shows that I will still be talking about in 20 years time.
FRINGE - Whilst last season failed to match up to the fabulous season one, I feel the season finished strongly enough that season three has plenty to offer by way of the story arc. I see not as many standalone episodes this season, as the bigger picture begins to come into focus. Walter Bishop is a character unlike any in recent memory, both enthusiastic and sorrowful, all nailed with random precision by the great John Noble.
I am eagerly anticipating the following: True Blood season three - Although still excellent, Season two failed to capitalise on what was an incredible first season. UK TV tend to be slow on the uptake, and I already have people at work talking about how season three ended, so I tend to tell a lot of people to shut the fuck up until it's been on TV here. I really don't wanna have to dl it, as I enjoy the weekly episodic structure.
The Walking Dead - I've only seen teaser trailers for this, but I read the comic on which it is based, so this hopefully will be one of the highlights of the winter.
Breakin Bad season three - Again, UK channel FX have yet to air this even though it finished in the states some time ago. Season two ended on such a random, but coincidental note, that I am literally dying to see how this turns out. This is also one of the best written shows since The Sopranos, and deserves far wider acclaim.
Hung season two - What happened? This show just seemed to finish without any mention of a second season. Now the second season has been and gone in America, and still we've not seen it on screens here in the UK. Unless it slipped under the radar and I missed it. Incredibly good show.

Yeah I am looking forwards to watching The Walking Dead. I'm still apprehensive about watching a new US TV series for fear it will be canned just as I am getting into it. I have also been meaning to catch up on True Blood too, though vampires are soooo annoying right now...
I saw the first episode of Dexter season 5. It's great TV, but I'm not sure why I am meant to like him anymore. He usually kills the evil people, but here he murdered an innocent man who only wanted to take a piss. What the fuck Dex?

The Walking Dead has already been renewed for a second season, so no worries there.

Cool, though it could still do a Pushing Daisies and get cancelled unfairly.
Btw isn't It's Always Sunny starting soon, or just started?

In Dexter's defense, had he not killed the dude he would have had to broken the bro code and used the urinal next to him. I'm not sure he made the wrong choice...

ROFLMMFAO!!!!! Hilarious!!!!
I HATE people who break the bro code. If there are 5 urinals, you go for No.1. If that's taken go for No. 3 or No.5. It's simple!!! You often get one wanker who sees some guy at No.1 and then decided to piss at urinal No.4 which means that the next person HAS to pee next to somebody else... Grrr
